Is there is a way to prevent this from happening? as I mentioned the user is INVALID, so it shouldn't be in the users tab!

SOS License allocation problem
Logging with an INVALID user consumes a license and I can see the INVALID user in the SOS user list

The SourceOffSite (SOS) license is per user, not per connection. After you put in the license key, you don't need to enter in users. Instead, as each user logs in, SOS checks the user's login against VSS. If it's valid, SOS will add the user to the list of SOS users. The user isn't removed from SOS...
