Repeated Vault application log errors restarting w3wp.exe
Hi there, A few days ago we started getting repeated intermittent bogdowns on our webserver, causing very slow page loads--two minutes or more so we may as well be down. In troubleshooting, our team has found that the day before all this started, we began getting a ton of repeated Vault-related erro...

Re: Shadow folder problems on deleted & undeleted directory
Didn't help. 1. Deleted problem directory, one level below $, in repository 2. Deleted problem directory's "shadow" in shadow folder 3. Deleted shadow folder association in Vault admin 4. Changed shadowfolder_cachepath in web.config 5. Restarted IIS 6. Recreated shadow folder association i...

Re: Shadow folder problems on deleted & undeleted directory
Turned out that was *not* a good idea. In fact, it made things worse. Having deleted [dirname] in the repository as well as my shadow folder association and attempting to start anew, I am now getting errors of the type in my second quote block above, which is the type that seems to block all changes...

Re: Shadow folder problems on deleted & undeleted directory
That sounds like a good idea, I'll try it tonight when I know all our users are out of the system for the day.

Shadow folder problems on deleted & undeleted directory tree
Hi there, It seems like I'm seeing issues where deleting a directory structure in Vault, then later either undeleting it or adding a directory structure with the same name, causes some problems with shadow folder copying of files in those structures. Need some help resolving... Over the weekend we n...

Re: Repository showing diff file versions to diff Windows us
Linda, thanks, I appreciate this. I followed your directions, for both Windows User 1 and Windows User 2, and it doesn't appear to have addressed the problem. Specifically, the one particular file to which I made a bunch of changes (logged in as Windows User 1/Vault User 1) for testing purposes afte...

Repository showing diff file versions to diff Windows users
We are doing a very fast emergency migration of a large, complex website to a new server, after our web hosting company was clobbered by a zero-day software exploit. Several team members have access to RDP in to the server (Windows 2008 R2 SP1) and use the Vault client there to log in, each with the...

Re: Shadow folder won't populate?
Thanks so much for clarifying this. Very, very helpful. I must push my luck though and ask another question (sorry for the long delay; I was traveling). After the synchronize bug is fixed and that feature is working as designed, is there a way to designate certain directories within the shadow folde...

Re: Shadow folder won't populate?
OK, thanks, I appreciate this, but I'm not sure it brought much more clarity. I still couldn't tell if a file created in the Shadow Folder via filesystem (with Synchronized with Repository setting) would be automatically deleted by a process that recognizes it as not having gotten there via reposito...

Linda found my problem and offered a good fix, via email, quoted below, and then I have another question on Shadow Folders... 6/12/2012 12:41:44 AM <generic>: [<No Name>:5572] Vault's Shadow Folders encountered an exception attempting to get the files for [repository name]. Shadow folder won't populate?
I am implementing Vault on an existing website of about 13,000 files. I want to use a shadow folder to push to my web root, but I can't get my shadow folder to populate. I started off setting the shadow folder to the existing webroot that still had all the files in it that I'd used to populate the r...
