Need to install 32-bit Vault client on Windows 7
For technical reasons, I need to be able to run the 32-bit version of Vault on my Windows 7 machine. I assume that the installer comes with both 64-bit and 32-bit versions (since it will install on regular 32-bit machines as well) but I don't seem to have any choice over what version gets installed....

Why is Vault 5 a "major" new version?
I've been looking at the list of new features for Vault 5 and as a user of the most recent version of Vault 4 I can't figure out why on earth I would bother "upgrading" to this version, even though it's a free update for me. Shelving seems like a very minor feature (even if it was hard to ...

Re: SIMPLE example for using command line client
Thanks --- I've discovered that the Vault plugin for Eclipse works quite well on the Mac so after configuring a "Vault" perspective, I can just use Eclipse as a standalone Vault client on the Mac.

Re: SIMPLE example for using command line client
On my (very fast) Macintosh, this command line client is painfully slow. Looks like it has to start a java VM every time you enter a command. Also, I'm getting a warning about Java's log4j subsystem log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (com.cdesg.jni.natives.NativeLoader). log4j:WARN Pl...

Re: SIMPLE example for using command line client
Thank you --- I take it there's no way to setup environment variables (or a response file) so you don't have to keep repeating your username, password and repository, etc?
I guess it's time for a few batch files

SIMPLE example for using command line client
The documentation I've found lists all the commands and options....lots of them, will take ages to wade through them. Is there, somewhere, a simple example that just takes you through the process to connect to a repository, view files, check stuff out, etc, so one doesn't have to be an expert to jus...

Re: Macintosh client?
Yes, we work with eclipse but we don't "live" in it. So for example, we use a lot of other tools that generate or manipulate code and data. For example, I'm using ANTLR a lot these days. We also use things like photoshop and illustrator and Excel and Word and so we keep images, spreadsheet...

Re: Macintosh client?
Unfortunately, while you are waiting to decide whether it's worth your while to support Macs, those of us who need version control NOW have given up and switched to other systems. For example, I have in fact discovered that SVN is actually pretty good, particularly since there are decent GUI clients...

Re: Can't get Default.aspx to run
Yeah, that's exactly the trick --- and one can't expect the develoepr to be intimately familiar with all the other possible version control systems....so make it as easy as possible for people who have used your program before (or even those that haven't, but are considering it) to understand WHY yo...

Re: Can't get Default.aspx to run
There are always too many things competing for your time --- but consider....you can get essentially free sales help from users if you make it easy for them to tell the story... As for videos, no I haven't, and I don't want to....watching videos is a poor use of time, when I can read a document cove...

Re: Can't get Default.aspx to run
However, I know I asked for this before (related to Vault vs ClearCase a few years ago) and I would say that it would be extremely helpful for you to maintain a list of reasons why Vault should be used instead of various other systems....otherwise it gets very difficult to explain why people should ...

Re: Macintosh client?
No, I want a native Mac client....first of all, I'm using XCode with RubyCocoa and I'm also using Komodo. I'm also using FreePascal/Lazarus and am looking at RealBASIC (which is very popular although I probably will end up NOT using that). I'm also looking at Eclipse, IntelliJ and Borland JBuilder f...
