Upgrade 6.1 to 8.0 Questions

Post by ejhansen71 » Wed Mar 04, 2015 10:59 am

1. Can both the 8.0 and 6.1 clients live on the same Remote Desktop Server? Can both be running?
2. Does an upgrade (uninstall/new install) Of the client require a Remote Desktop Server reboot? Are there new C++ libraries or anything else that we need to be on the lookout for?
3. Will the old 6.1 client work with the new 8.0 server temporarily?
Thanks!

1. You can install both, but there is a method to it. Install Vault 6.1.0. Then take the folder you installed it into and move that folder to a different location on the machine. Then install Vault 8.0.1. The Vault 8.0.1 client will take over the registry keys, short cuts, and Visual Studio integration. Vault 6.1.0 can still be ran as a stand-alone client from the moved folder.

2) No reboot is required. I would recommend you close other programs during the install.

3) The client and server versions can't be mixed. A 6.1.0 client will not connect to an 8.0 server and vice versa.
