Vault 7.1 new databases

Post by kha » Fri Feb 06, 2015 9:48 am

Hi,

I upgraded from vault 5.1 to vault 7.2, not sure whether 6.1 introduced new dbs: sgnotify, sgvaultindex or 7.2 did.
With vault 5.1, i only had sgmaster and sgvault dbs, is sgmaster db still needed?

It's also created multiple new applications under IIS: VaultIndexService, VaultNotifyService. In what case I need to use these 2 new applications? I am curious the importance of these new applications and dbs.

What is the minimum RAM required/recommended to run vault 7.2 client?

Thanks,
Kim

Additional databases are a part of Vault 6, 7, and 8.

You definitely need your sgmaster still. That database holds your users and some administrative data.

Vaultindexservice is for the Find in Files feature. It has its own application pool as well.

Vaultnotifyservice is our new way of providing email notifications and notifications inside the application.

There isn't really an official minimum RAM for a client. It depends a lot on how you are using Vault. I'd suggest having 1 GB or more. If you are a very heavy user, or deal with very large files, or the machine is a build machine, you would want more to get better performance.
