Feature Suggestion: Email Notification Formatting

Post by thexray » Thu Apr 29, 2010 8:36 am

It would be nice if the notification email had each changed file specified in a new row instead of putting all in one row like this:

> You have requested to be notified of changes to the Vault item $/Trunk
>
> xxx modified the item on 20/05/2009 19:00:08. xxxx's comment
> for the transaction is:
>
> ****************************
>
> The changes made are:
>
> $/Trunk/Code/xxxxx -- Added
> $/Trunk/Code/yyyyyy -- Checked In
> $/Trunk/Code/zzzzzz -- Checked In
>
> For more details on this transaction, go to
> [link]

Which version of Vault are you on?

Can you give me an example of how you would prefer for it to look? What you have posted looks like it's one of our current email notifications.

I'm on 5.0.3 (18802).

Currently:

> $/Trunk/Code/xxxxx -- Added $/Trunk/Code/yyyyyy -- Checked In $/Trunk/Code/zzzzzz -- Checked In

Preferred:

> $/Trunk/Code/xxxxx -- Added
> $/Trunk/Code/yyyyyy -- Checked In
> $/Trunk/Code/zzzzzz -- Checked In

What you post as "preferred" is exactly what I get. It's probably similar to the problem I have where all of the lines of the comment are run together. This seems to happen because in some parts of the message, there are CR/NL pairs for line endings, and in other parts of the message, there is only CR for line endings, and the mail reader gets confused about what the sender intended.

Thanks for the hint! I am using Outlook and found a way to fix the formatting by clearing this check-box:

Tools->Options->E-mail Options->Remove extra line breaks in plain text messages
