Unable to execute diff program: WinDiff

Post by esc67 » Fri Jul 09, 2004 11:44 am

I'm using 4.0.2 integrated in VS2003.

When I try to "Compare Versions..." inside Visual Studio I get the error: "Unable to execute diff program: WinDiff".

When I choose "Show Differences" in the SourceOffsite client it runs SourceGear DiffMerge with no problems.

What's going on in VS?

For some reason, VS.NET isn't picking up the options from the GUI Client.

In VS.NET, look under Tools->Options->Source Control->SCC Provider->Advanced->External Programs. Browse to the location of the SG Diff\Merge Tool.

Let me know if this doesn't resolve the problem.

That solved it!

The IDE setting simply said "WinDiff" rather than a path to an exe.

I wonder how/why it used to work with SourceSafe and didn't work with SOS...

Thanks,
