Comment block in sourcecode

Post by nicolajb » Thu Apr 01, 2004 5:09 am

Hi

I don’t know if this question has already been answered in this forum, but I couldn’t find it via the search 

I have just installed the Vault and must say that it is FAR better than SourceSafe!

But I was wondering if it is possible for Vault to add the checkin/checkout comments to your files. I have worked with CVS (Igloo) in VisualStudio and here it was possible to add a “comment block” where CVS put in the comments. I don’t know if it’s clear what I’m asking here, but when working with CVS I had a block in the top of all my sourcecode files – something like this:

///CVS comments Start
[comments]
///CVS comments End

Where [comments] contained all the checkin/checkout comments (with timestamp, author and so on)
Is this possible with Vault?

thanx
Nicolaj

We do support keyword expansion within files, which might get you want you want. Look at the admin tool documentation for keywords, play around with it, and see if it has the keywords that you are looking for.
