Re: improving performance of spQueryHistory
That's great for a future release, but unfortunately it doesn't help us in our current situation. Can the developers please comment on what this SP does - I realize the source is protected, but perhaps they could at least tell us what tables/fields are involved so I can determine if I can add some i...

Re: improving performance of spQueryHistory
I already understand that this is a timeout issue (see my first post); so I understand that increasing the timeout value would prevent the error. What I'm asking is if there is anything we can do to improve the overall time it takes for this stored procedure to run? I can't analyze the SP myself to ...

improving performance of spQueryHistory
Doing a history on a particular branch in our vault DB is taking about six minutes (it actually results in a vault error of "A database error has occurred (FailDbFault)") but reviewing the logs shows it to merely be a timeout, and a sql profiler run reveals the real issue: This SP call: db...

Re: pinning a file is pinning other shares of the same file
We have determined what has happened. both $\foo and $\bar are actually shares of $\qux. our developers extensively pin files and folders directly and this has worked well. The pin status of any (file or folder) has never affected the pin status of any other (file or folder). however, we recently st...

pinning a file is pinning other shares of the same file
vault 3.5.2 client and server we use pinning extensively and today have ran into an odd issue. We have a file, lets call it baz.dll. baz.dll is shared to many folders, perhaps 30-40 or so. today, we ran into an issue wherein pinning baz.dll in $\foo affected the pin status of the file in $\bar (also...

when GLVing: System.UnauthorizedAccessException
We are using Vault 3.5.2. Recently, we've been having increased occurrences of this error: $/Dn/Nbt/Nbt/NbtConfig/bin/Debug/NbtConfig.XML failed: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path "D:\Vault\Dn\Nbt\Nbt\NbtConfig\bin\Debug\NbtConfig.XML" is denied. It happens for other f...

question, post-restore operations
Vault 3.52 our database server failed mid-day. we restored to a new server from the previous nights backup. Everything appears to be working OK. What, if anything, do I need to have my client users do to their local systems? do they need to clear any client cache or anything, given that they may hav...

and to respond to your questions: the bandwidth for these remote users between the server and clients is approximately 10x the bandwidth that vault appears to actually make use of for the remote users. (they have a partial T1 capable of transferring at 100kB/s when used for other regular (FTP) file ...

unfortunately there is no way to tell what's happened with the file because the changes were lost. It works something like this: what we agree on: Developer A makes changes to the file. Simultaneously, Developer B makes other changes and commits those changes. Developer A then tries to commit his/he...
