Yes that is true, and I have advised the team here to not paste from Word.
It would be nice to see a software fix for this issue in a future version.
Thanks for your help.

Rob

Re: vault history - not quoting " character
Linda, You are correct about the problem being caused by pasting in opening and closing double quote special characters from Word. I just talked to the user who did the check-in and that is what he did. I can reproduce it by creating the check-in details in Word with the offending characters and the...

Re: vault history - not quoting " character
Hi,
Just to be clear, in this instance Word is not a factor. The issue is the the user simply typed double-quote characters into his commit message as per the example that I pasted into my original post.

Rob

Hi Sourcegear, We are using Version 5.0.3.18802 for Client and Server. I have noticed a problem with the Vault command client that affects CruiseControl .Net - if someone uses " (or some other special characters like a bullet point pasted in from Word) in a check-in comment - then CC.Net throws...

Command line client - eol problem on ADD
Hi Sourcegear Support, We have noticed a problem with the command client (4.1.2) under mono. Whenever we add a text file with Unix eol it goes into the repository with CRs added. Here is how to reproduce this on Linux: create a file with unix style line endings: Devel/testfile.cc file Devel/testfile...

Can you open your Vault client, connect to a repository, then go to Help - Technical Support and copy the information from there to here? That will tell me more about your environment. I don't need the licensing information at the bottom. Client Information Vault Client Version: 4.1.1.18060 .Net Fr...

Various problems after file Move operations
All operations inside of Vault. We do not use Visual Studio integration at all.Beth wrote:Are you performing the moves inside of Vault or inside of Visual Studio?
Are the moves being committed before the Get Latest?
Yes, the moves are being comitted first (days or weeks ago).

Vault logs not archiving - V4.1.1
Hi, While looking into my "file move" problem I noticed that my vault server log hasn't rotated for ~6 weeks (since 30-Mar-2008).
The setting on the server is for weekly archiving.

Rob Barnes

Database corrupt?
Beth,
In fact I have already done all of the mainenance steps. After I fixed up the disk space issue I did a backup and did all of the maintenance steps.
Is there any way I can verify that our vault repository is OK? Or is it the case that if the database is OK Vault is OK?

Rob Barnes

Update
The current situation is that after a further couple of hours the history has come good - I can now query history from the root of the repository. After what happenned I am quite concerned about the state of the repository. Is there some way I can run a check to verify that all is well? Regards, Rob...

Database corrupted after disk full - no backups!
After some Vault operations failed this morning I have discovered that the disk was full on the server - and has been for a month. I fixed that and got the SQL instance happy again and now I can look at the history of some parts of the repository, but not from the root (the history operation doesn't...

Diagnosing e-mail notification problems
Hi All,
I am trying to get e-mail notifications working again. The issue I have is that our IT people have the mail servers set to require SMTP authentication. Right now the notifications are not getting through, where are the log files that will tell me what is going on?
Cheers,
Rob B

I have successfully upgrded all of my serial numbers from 3.1 to 4.0, but half of them failed when I tried to upgrade from 3.1 to 3.5. I'm not sure what you mean by this.
