Hi Beth, thanks. I guess I can move it to my local drive, I just liked the network drive because it has regular snapshot backups (netapps storage device).
At work, everything works fine, I didn't expect it to be that different over VPN.
thanks,
Bruce

problem Vault over Cisco VPN w/ networked working folder
Hi, I have Vault 3.1.8.3771 It works great at our company, but over VPN at home it hangs when my working folder is on a networked server. The working folders on my local C: drive work great over VPN, no issues. I notice a lot of wireless VPN traffic when it's hanging, in both directions. Maybe there...

Revert seems to strong
Hi, we are using the latest Vault 3.1.8(3771). A colleague did a Revert and it removed all of his local code changes that weren't checked in. The Revert probably did what it shoud, but I think a nice feature would be to have some prompts warning him he would lose his local changes and giving him a c...

non-exclusive checkouts
Hi,
I'm trying to get a repository working with non-exclusive checkouts. I allowed it in repository properties..and I started editing the list of file extensions that are "merge-able".
Can I simply allow *.* to allow all files to be mergeable? That didn't seem to work.
thanks,
Bruce

firewall rules
Hi, we plan on using SSL on our Vault server for AD authentication. Is there a list of firewall rules for Vault? Our network staff have asked which which ports to allow. I'm guessing I'll need: 443 incoming/outgoing 25 for smtp outgoing ?? but I'm sure there's more I don't know about thanks, Bruce

AD authentication
Hi Linda,
Thanks for the information. That's good to know. I'll definitely get a SSL certificate then for the Vault server, I'm assuming if I don't use SSL the passwords will go in the clear.

Windows Authentication
Hi, I've configured my Vault server to use Windows Authentication for the Vault users. I'm running the client for the first time, and I'm surprised I have to hardcode my username and password in there. Is there a way it would detect my credentials and pass it through to the Vault server? thanks, Bru...

Thanks Dan, no more questions, finally.
I'm excited to get off Sourcesafe finally and look forward to using Vault. Hopefully I'll get the green light to purchase this week.
thanks for your help,
Bruce

ssl
Dan, That's ok, I think we're fine with the thick client. Do I just "force SSL encryption" in the Default Web Site properties on the Vault server prior to installing Vault? I saw this in the installation guide but wasn't sure what I had to do outside of the Vault Admin tool: "Use the ...

thanks for the info
Dan, Thanks for the info. I'll go ahead and order a SSL certificate then for the server...I'm assuming this will encrypt all client-server conversations. Is there a real thin client or is Vault web based? It sounds like the 'client' is a .net windows application that consumes web services off the se...

some basic questions
Hi, we're about to purchase Vault but was wondering: * Is it tested/certified for use on Windows 2003 and IIS 6? I'm guessing yes since the server specs said "and above". * Is SSL encryption used by default, I'm told I don't need any 3rd party SSL certificates installed on our Vault server...
