Re: Critical Error downloading file! The remote host closed
Thank you Jeff, that's exactly what it was! The %TEMP% folder contained 65,547 files - most of them created on the same day and they appear to be temporary binaries from our IDE. I had thought that Disk Cleanup removed such files, but clearly not because I just tried it again. So I just deleted them...

Re: Critical Error downloading file! The remote host closed
Disk Cleanup did not help. For good measure I also tried System File Checker (sfc) and Check Disk (chkdsk).
I have attached a couple more logs from the client, hopefully done properly this time.
Regards,
John

Re: Critical Error downloading file! The remote host closed
Since my last response, I have reverted a few Windows updates which appeared around the time of the first failure, but this did not help. Also our IT guys have checked the network adaptor settings on the workstation, the server, and the Hyper-V servers, and declared them to be ok. Also I have revive...

Re: Critical Error downloading file! The remote host closed
Hi Beth, Thanks for the quick response. I have rebooted the Vault server (which I think does everything that an IISRESET would), and also cleared the cache on the workstation and rebooted the workstation. But the behaviour is unchanged - still the error "Critical Error downloading file! The rem...

Critical Error downloading file! The remote host closed the
Hi folks, We have been happily using Vault 8.0.1.299 for many many months. But now one of the workstations is unable to use the Vault client (neither vaultguiclient.exe or vault.exe). After logging in and choosing a repository, the GUI client shows "Retrieving repository structure information f...

Re: Windows 10
Hi Beth, So on Windows 8.1, Vault was always a little slow starting up - maybe 2 minutes between me choosing a repository and the client being responsive. But immediately after upgrading to Windows 10, the delay is much increased: worse case it takes 40 minutes, best case about 10 minutes. I do inte...

Re: Windows 10
Hi Beth, Windows 10 has been out for more than a week. Are you close to making any recommendations for its use? My experience has not been good. Vault (version 8.0.1.299) is the only application which has behaved worse since my upgrade from Win 8.1 to Win 10. If you say that this version is supporte...

Re: How to enable "Find In Files" ?
FYI, the client is still showing "The repository's index is currently being built.", five days after I enabled it. Is there some way I can work out approximately how far it has to go? Currently the rep_11_parsedfiles table has 48,905 rows, the rep_11_parsedfilelines has 50,640,225 rows and...

Re: How to enable "Find In Files" ?
On looking again at VaultService/Admin/PluginConfiguration.aspx, I've noticed that the VaultIndexService is listed more than once. Once as "http://127.0.0.1/VaultIndexService/VaultIndexService.asmx" which is active, and once as "http://soft06.arden.group/VaultService/VaultIndexService...

How to enable "Find In Files" ?
Hi all, We have just upgraded from Vault Standard 5.1 to 8.0. I am trying to explore the new features, but I've stumbled at the first hurdle... In the client, I get "An error occurred in Find in Files. Server Error: [1101] - The server could not establish a connection to the database. Please ch...

Re: Performance
Apologies for the delay, I only just noticed your reply. We do not use ghosted folders. We have 11 repositories. Only one of them has folder security enabled. Only 2 of the repositories are active (one of them being the one with folder security). All the other repositories are legacy and I would gla...

Re: Performance
Hi Beth, Quick update: The changes you suggested (viewtopic.php?f=13&t=22358) do seem to have made a significant difference - thanks for that. About SQL maintenance (viewtopic.php?t=2924), we do indeed perform these operations every weekend. About Vault performance (viewtopic.php?t=4206), I didn...

Re: Performance
Hi Beth, I have made the suggested changes to sgmaster and sgvault. (Beforehand, sgmaster had auto create statistics and auto update statistics enabled, while sgvault had only auto create statistics. Neither of them had the async option enabled.) Unfortunately the changes haven't made any noticeable...

Performance
Just a quick question. We have noticed Vault slowing down over the past few years, so I'm about to do some investigating. A quick Google found this article: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=4206 but it hasn't been updated for years (no mention of SQL Server 2008/2012/2014, for example) ...
