No, I haven't tried that, but I think I fixed it. I was able to use "Show Differences" on the Solution file from the Vault Client. It showed what I suspected... large parts of the Solution file in my working directory were missing. I couldn't fix the Solution from "Show Differences&qu...

VS Solution file corrupted - Now what to do?

Hi, Earlier this week I "tried" something that I hadn't done before. I needed to leave my computer for awhile and wanted to keep my VS session running. So I used the Windows "Log Off" (from the Start Menu) thinking I'd be able to log in later and pick up where I left off. VS cras...

Ok, I was hoping there was a way to just fix the Solution file in the existing project. If there's not, I'll re-add the one I built.

Thanks for your help.

Ok, I took your suggestion, and I was able to create the blank solution and then add the projects to it one at a time from Vault. No errors. I solved my broken reference problem. As it turns out we did have a slightly different folder configuration and the reference in question was truly broken and ...

Same result. You're right that I didn't unbind the Solution the last time before I moved it. This time I unbound the Solution (and all projects) from Source control, then moved the folder to my Desktop, created an identical empty folder, and re-opened from Source Control to the empty folder. I got e...

One or more projects could not be mapped to local directory

Hi, A co-worker of mine made some fairly extensive modifications (deleted and re-added source files) to a couple of projects in a Solution on which we both work. I have these projects in my local working directory, but because we've had some problems in the past when source files (and projects) have...

Thanks. These did the trick. BTW your docs answer my question about where the folders above the Solution came from in my other post. I initially added the Solution to Vault when I had another project temporarily added to my Solution (a "Templates" project). So VS found the common folder (a...

If I understand your response, moving folders in Vault has no impact on what structure gets set up on a new client when that user "opens" the Solution in Vault? I guess I don't know how to completely control the structure from VS. I have control over what happens below the Solution level, ...

Logic used when adding a Solution to Vault?

Is there any documentation on how Vault (or VS) decides to structure the folders in the repository when adding a new Solution to Vault. Specifically... 1) If the Solution references other projects not in the Solution how are they treated? 2) If the referenced project is already in Vault in another f...

Hi Beth, I just didn't have any more time to mess with this, so I renamed the old branch (the one that I moved),and re-added the Solution from one of the development machines. It's working fine, but I "Lost" all my old versions. They're still in Vault, but if I ever need to get to them I'l...

Hi Beth,

I'm telling VS to install the Solution to C:\Dev\Name

It's installing to C:\Dev\Name\Name\Name

Why does VS think the solution is still in the old Repository location (before I moved it). Can I fix this?

Cannot "Open from Source Control" for a moved fold

Hi, I recently used the "move folder" option (on the Vault Client File menu) to re-organize my Repository "tree". I moved a folder (that was really the top level folder for a VS solution) from three levels deep in the repository tree to the level just below the root (how it got i...

Reorganizing development machines - want to keep Vault histo

Hi, I need to standardize our development machines so that we don't have so many "broken" project/dll references when adding or changing a developer. I would also like to keep the current project histories that are in Vault. I'm planning on doing the following... 1) Determine the new stand...

I'm using VS 2005 and Word 2003. After my initial post, Vault started treating me better. I am able to check-out my design files, edit them, and check them back in. It started to work after I went in and changed the file properties directly to turn off the "read only" flag. The only irrita...

1) I'm not running any scripts or using the Client API. I have been testing Vault using a laptop with dial-up Internet access so I suspect that an interrupted dial-up session is the culprit. 2) I'll "recycle" IIS if I need to. I assume you are suggesting that I stop the VaultAppPool and re...
