Re: Splitting up a huge repository into smaller ones
I would recommend you try our Vault Export/Import tool. We had tried a few things with this - but without much luck - it never fully worked. It's a very annoying and complicated and overly involved process, in my opinion. A hack at best - not a solution - for this problem. I still believe there oug...

Splitting up a huge repository into smaller ones
Folks, We're at a point where our repository is just too big as a single repository. We need to split it up into several, independent smaller repositories. But that seems to be next to impossible in Vault.... can this be?? I mean - it's all SQL Server tables, right? Isn't there any way to do an &quo...

Re: Trouble with proxy settings - Vault Client 4.1.4
Using the System Default in Vault means it's going to use what is specifically entered in IE. It can't do the detect that IE can do. Only IE can do that particular detect. If you had a proxy entered in IE, then Vault can pick that up, or if you had IE set to use no proxy, Vault can read that. The w...

Re: Trouble with proxy settings - Vault Client 4.1.4
Could you try setting Vault to "Automatic - use system proxy" and then reboot your computer? Can Vault connect then? That's what I'm doing - but still: if I have my settings to "Automatic", even after rebooting, Vault cannot connect to our server. When I pick the manual configur...

Trouble with proxy settings - Vault Client 4.1.4
I regularly work at the office (where I don't need a proxy) and offsite at customer's locations, where I do need a fixed proxy. My trouble is that Vault Client 4.1.4 can't seem to work with the "Automatic - use system proxy" setting. When I'm at the office, I explicitly need to set the Vau...

Re: Passing parameters to external programs
How do you open the file? If you are using the View command, then there is a setting in Vault that can make all files on disk be read only unless a user specifically checks the file out for editing. Yes, I'm using the right-click --> View option. For both "Edit" and "View", I've...

Re: Passing parameters to external programs
I'll need to do some digging around for information on this, but in the meantime, an easy way to make TextPad be the default viewer and editor is to associate the .txt extension with that program. That's a setting in the Windows folder options under file types. I have that already, not a problem. W...

Re: Passing parameters to external programs
Has this feature been added in the mean time?? I'd love to specify textpad.exe as my external editor *and* viewer. I can launch textpad.exe with a "-r" command line parameter to put it into read-only mode - but I also need to specify the file name, somehow. I tried specifying "textpad...

Just getting some files from the repository....
Folks, I have the need at times to just grab some files from the repository to serve as samples, instructions etc. What bugs me is the fact I have to supply a path where to put these files (ok), but then this path is being used as the "working folder" for that branch right away. If I happe...

Vault Client for Visual Studio 2008 (Beta)
Any hope we'll get a client for Vault 4 for the VS2008 Beta program, too? It's kinda annoying to have Vault 4 client in VS2005 and nothing in VS2008B2 ...

Folder export not working - aborts at 66%
Folks, We're trying to move a project from one Vault repository to another, and tried to export the project using the Folder Import/Export utility on the Vault server. Unfortunately, this export keeps failing at about 66%. I already tried all sorts of things I found a mention of in this support foru...

Make Vault XML savvy
Folks, We had a rather unpleasant experience when two developers simultaneously changed the same XML config file - Vault couldn't provide a proper merge.... Both developers tried to add a few <mytags>......</mytags> entries at the end of an XML file - but when Vault needed to merge this, it only off...
