We had hopes of implementing these changes in Vault 4.0, but they will most likely be included in a later release. We don't have a target date as yet. Is there a set of features slated for the next release? If so, is that available online? We're evaluating Vault along with a few other products. The...

Ryan, It sounds to me like you're actually using the MSSCCI (2003-compatible) client. This is fine, it just means somebody more knowledgeable than me on that client will need to get involved. To confirm this, can you tell me what menus/commands you're clicking on to add this solution to Vault? I'm ...

Ryan: Adding with the MSSCCI client and then trying to use the VSIP client from then on won't work. More importantly, though, I'd like to understand why it's failing to add in either client. Can you turn on logging for the 2005 client and do the add, and send me the log? You can post it here or ema...

Merge ChangeSet function?

I've been searching the forums for the "merge changeset" functionality. This post http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=5361&highlight= was the most relevant post (from 2006) I could find. Is there such a thing as "merge changeset" in Vault 4.0? I'd like to avoid the "mass merge" scenario wh...

Sorry about that. Here's the link you want: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?p=5375 Can't seem to get logging to work. Here is my devenv.exe.config app settings section: <appSettings> <add key="enableLogging" value="true" /> <add key="classesToLog" value="all" /> <add key="includeLogging...

Vault 4 only allows merge between folders where one folder is a branch of the other. This helps, because the correspondence between files is easy to figure out when we know that there was a point in the past when they were identical. However, it makes bidirectional merge harder. So Vault 4 provides...

We don't have shelving, but we do have a feature request open for that. If you would like, I can add your "vote" to that feature. In the meantime, for some users, branching as a way of checking in changes before they are ready for the main project can work. If you have 100 developers, then that mig...

Best practices question on user workspaces

I'm looking for suggestions on how to best accomodate user private checkins. Let's say Bob is working on a new feature and wants to check in his code to save his work. However, Bob doesn't want to check the changes into an official branch. Bob may have 3 of these side-projects he is working on. Many...

Best Practices question on branches (product versions)

I've ready your best practices for managing branches: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=193 I'm wondering if I should use the same branching strategy for the following scenario: 1.0 shipped. 1.0 is now it's own branch. 1.0 MR1 development moves to the 1.0 branch. I now have a team of dev...

Whoops. I figured it out. In the wizard I wanted to diff the file that was being merged, so I right-clicked on it and hit the "diff..." menu option. Nothing happened, so I figured this was a bug. I continued through the wizard as noted in the original post. I was about to give up just now and starte...

Merge Branch "working..." forever

I'm evaluating Vault along with 2 other products. I put our VS2005 solution into Vault and have been working fine with it for hours, testing history, labeling, checkin/checkout, changesets, etc. This evening, I branched a project/folder using the vault client. The folder had no sub folders and conta...

We have found and fixed a number of issues related to this, to be included in the next release (Fortress 1.0.5/Vault 4.0.5). A date for this release has not yet been set. In the mean time, for folks experiencing this issue, the "2003-compatible" client works just fine in Visual Studio 2005. I tried...

I'm having the same problem. Brand new Vault Server. My VS2005 solution contains 33 projects. I "add solution to vault" and it hangs forever. CPU is pegged. devenv.exe using 362MB of memory. No network activity. The Vault Server has no cpu activity and nothing new in the database. Was there any reso...
