Re: Changing the AD authentication from one domain to another
Changing each permission?
I can find only one place in the admin tool to specify the authenticating domain name. Are you saying that I need to open each user's properties, uncheck AD authentication, save, recheck AD authentication and resave?

Changing the AD authentication from one domain to another
My Vault server currently authenticates with DOMAIN-A and I want to change it so that it authenticates with DOMAIN-B. DOMAIN-A and DOMAIN-B do not currently share any trust relationships. I understand the correct DNS records for accessing DOMAIN-B need to be in accessible from the Vault server, that...

Upgrade path from Vault 3.1.9 to 4.1.2
I am planning to upgrade my Vault 3.1.9 installation to the new 4.1.2 version. Is there a direct upgrade path to 4.1.2 from 3.1.9 or do I need to upgrade from 3.1.9 to an interim version and then to 4.1.2?

Is Vault 3.1.9.3798 supported on 64bit web server
I want to deploy Vault 3.1.9.3798 in this configuration:
web server: win 2003 r2 64bit
db server: sql server 2005 sp2 - win2003 r2 32bit
Is this supported?
I found the document: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=7717
but it lists vault 3.5

Shadow folder refreshes
I am using Vault 3.1.9.3798 and have these questions about shadow folders: 1 - Does Vault in some way 'watch' the folders? If I remove a file using Windows Explorer, will that file be replaced automatically? 2 - Is there a periodic refresh which is scheduled to ensure the filesystem is up to date? 3...

Hardware Load Balancing Possibilities
We're planning on deploying Vault 4.0 to two separate web servers that use a hardware load balancer for redundancy. Both web servers will reference the same database on the same SQL server. I’m curious if there are any known or expected issues when Vault is configured in this way. Even though our lo...

The 'custom' option doesn't quite do it
Not quite. The custom option will do steps 2,3 but it will leave the app pool operating under NETWORK SERVICE instead of the 'testvault' AD account, it adds the IMPERSONATE option to the web.config file with the 'testvault' AD account password in plaintext in the web.config file. Since you do not se...

Integrated security for DB access from Vault app pool
In this article: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms998292.aspx Microsoft talks about the benefits of authenticating to the SS from an ASP.NET application using the App Pool's identity as a trusted subsystem. I setup a test installation of seperate Vault web server and sql server to do this....

This case should be closed
It was because someone changed the IUSR password without syncing it in the IIS metabase.

I think the IUSR_machinename account is the problem
I see security 529 events that tell me the IUSR_machinename account password in unknown or bad.
I will work on this and post later.

The VaultService.asmx is present
The file is actually there and I can pull it up in a web browser without trouble.
