Re: Merge Branches - Version Retrieval Options

Hi, Eric. While Merge Branches doesn't explicitly let you set a default retrieval option, the last settings you used are saved when you complete the merge. So you should only need to choose the "Since Your Last Merge Marker" once. After that, it will be the default choice. The settings are...

Re: Support conflict resolution using diff/diff3 format file

DiffMerge does not have the capability to resolve conflicts based on conflict markers. It doesn't even support editing a single file. It can produce an output file in the Unified Diff Format which then be edited by You in a text editor. For example, take two files: Left.txt Right.txt --------- -----...

Re: Issue with same/equivalent files

I think you've got your polarity reversed. Pressed buttons mean "Show Equivalent Files."
If I'm understanding you correctly, you want to hide them.
Try it with the buttons unpressed and see if that works.

Re: Integration with external diff/merge app

Try changing your executable path to "/Applications/Araxis Merge.app/Contents/Utilities/compare" and see if that helps. "Araxis Merge.app" is not an executable file. It's a directory "bundle" that contains the executable along with other resources needed by the app. You...

Re: StackTrace: at VaultServiceBase.VaultLogManager.LogExcep

Hello, Hans. Thanks for including the detail from your event log. I'd like to take a look at your server log, too. Your Vault server log can be found on the Vault server machine at %windir%\temp\sgvault\sgvault.log. If it's huge, you can just send the portion of the log starting July 1. Then we can ...

Re: Serious Vault issues re. Shared and VS2015 plugin

Re: the packages.config, nuget issue, a developer offered these comments: Is it safe to say you're using the Concurrent Development Style options of 'Require Check Out before Check In' and 'Make all files read-only'? If so, can you try to run 'update-package' from the Package Manager Console, does i...

Re: Serious Vault issues re. Shared and VS2015 plugin

Hello there! Thank you for reporting these issues with the new VS 2017 extension. Beth is no longer with Sourcegear, having moved to St Louis. I have logged 2 bugs and a Feature Request and will reproduce them and go over them with our developers. (19970, -71, -72) I'm glad things are otherwise goin...

Re: Auto Search change from v6 to v10

When you say "lock on the current folder", do you mean to "stay put at what is Now the current folder even after I move" (which was Vault 6's behavior when you checked "Lock onto this folder" or do you mean to "synchronize the search root with my current folder as ...

Re: Environment variables in the path name to an External To

Thank you for contacting SourceGear Support. I've tested and reproduced your example, getting the same errors that you provide. Apparently this functionality was not built into the External Tools execution. I have logged Feature Request # P1959 so that it can be addressed in a future release. Thank ...

Re: Auto Search change from v6 to v10

Yes, Search behavior was changed in Vault 9.0. I'm sorry this affected your workflow. The continuous search functionality was an expensive option for users with large or deep folder trees. We would have users experiencing slowdowns from the background search without realizing the cause. So continuou...

Re: Restore Vault from full harddrive backup

That's great. It sounds like you are well protected against another crash. However, in case that does happen again, please make sure you will be able to access the latest SQL backups post-crash
Good luck! Let me know if I can help.

Re: Restore Vault from full harddrive backup

Unfortunately there is no way you can take an attached, running SQL Data file that contains a live database (as it was when the backup was made) and connect that to a new SQL Server instance. SQL will see that the file is already in a "connected" state and refuse to attach it. The good new...

Re: UTF-8 support?

DiffMerge does support UTF-8. By default it will look for a Byte Order Mark (BOM) at the beginning of the file to determine the encoding used for that file. In the absence of a BOM, your System Default will be used. This is all configurable, however. Go to Tools -> Options, and under "File Wind...
