OK, we'll add that to the list. It will be more difficult in Vault now, because our folder difference view is actually a separate program that isn't integrated with Vault. We'll just need to find ways to make it easier to add new local files to Vault.

I'll send you email off-line so we can discuss this. I can see why you would be frustrated if you do a lot of branching, because we had always considered that an infrequent operation, and didn't put much time into optimizing it.

Hopefully we can find a solution for you...

I should also say that we already support the Pin command, which does lock a tree. However, without the other features, I suspect it won't be all that useful for what you really want.

These are very advanced features, and we do get requests for them every now and then. We will eventually want to look into doing this, but I have to admit that it will be down the road a bit before we do that.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by the "difference view" window. Which VSS window is this?

Also, note that we did change our keyboard shortcut for Add Files to Ctrl-N for Vault 2.0, rather than Ctrl-A, which is now mapped to the standard "Select All" command.

I would recommend doing it the other way around - create the tree on disk, and remove files from there before adding to Vault. Deleting and obliterating files from Vault will leave unnecessary history entries in your Vault repository. But, it will work either way...

This has been tricky to find out why this does this. I would recommend the same answer though - try to manually create a shortcut, and manually place it where you want, rather than copying or moving the one the installer creates.
