It turns out that it's a single file that can't be checked in. I've checked all the other files in ok. I then undid the checkout of the "bad" file successfully too (at least I think so). I checked it out again, and applied the changed again; tried to check it in again, and I get the same e...

Panic: "Transaction Failed. Error in the application&q

Hi -- I'm running 3.1.2.3511. Today, wanting to check-in, I've gotten this (after years of bliss). What should I do? [2007-09-27 15:28:21] An error occurred while trying to begin a transaction. [2007-09-27 15:28:21] Transaction failed [2007-09-27 15:28:21] An exception was encountered during the tra...

Get list of all shared files

Hi all. We're trying to remove our use of shared files between projects. I would like to get a list of all the files that are shared with other projects, along with a list of all the projects where the file is shared into. Is there any way of getting such a list?
Thanks!

3.5 -- can't upgrade from 3.1?

Hi all, I get the impression that 3.1 users that don't have a support contract can't upgrade to 3.5 without buying new licenses. Is this so? On another note, there are rumours of an Eclipse plugin client coming; is this part of the new 3.5 or will that be in 4 (the next major release as far as the n...

re: Get old files and branch them

OK, I figured something out. When Showing history, ask for "View Folder history by Version". That seems to get me what I want. If I select a particular version in the Folder Versions view and then click Label, will I label it at that point in history? And if I clicked Branch I would branch...

Get old files and branch them?

I've messed up and need to retrieve all files as they were in May. A bunch of files have been updated since, but many are unchanged. I saw a post that describes that in History one can get all files for a folder by date -- but I'm thick in the head and don't get it. If I do a show history for a spec...

delete all checked-in files from working directory

Hallo ! Is there a way to delete all checked-in files from a working directory, or even better, from a project node (so that sub-projects are also done). I would like to clean up my working area, and find out what jetsam and flotsam I have kicking around once the goodies are removed. I once looked i...

Minor bug: trailing slash...

If you do a GETLABEL on the commandline, then a trailing slash in the destpath will cause an error without specifying what the error is. My commandline was this: vault GETLABEL -host hostIP -ssl -user uid -password pwd -repository repo -destpath "C:\some\path\" -makereadonly -verbose -merg...

Funny Merge observed

I'm using 3.1.2 host and client. A particular project has a 2 branches, 5.1 and 5.3. In each branch the automatic build updates the version numbers in a .VBP file by undoing the read-only bit then modifying the version number in the file. From Vault's point of view this file is now renegade (which i...

Thanks for putting it onto the wishlist. In the meantime I'm trying to parse the output, and I've captured it, but all I get is: <vault><result success="yes"/></vault>. This is because I already know from my GUI that I have a merge to do, so when I try to build with Nant, the get has nothi...

Nant VaultGetFile doesn't merge

Hi, I'm exploring using vaultgetfile instead of <exec>vault. The problem with getfile is that if a file is currently checked out, it will still be retrieved and any changes are effectively rolled back. Is there a way to run vaultgetfile in "attempt merge" and fail if the merge is not succe...

Move folders while stuff checked out?

Is it ok to move a bunch of folders, even though some users have files checked out? Specifically, we want to add a new trunk and move all our current top-level projects into this new trunk. I'm assuming I can't just grab the root and move everything into project which is part of the root selection.....

Changing Label comment after the fact

Hallo, is there a way to change a label comment after the label has been applied to an entire project, which has dozens of sub-projects, and thousands of files. I forgot to add a vital bit of info to it. Alternatively, I could delete the label and re-apply it (nothing has been done to the projects s...

history report is duplicated...

As can be seen by the attached image, there are a bunch of records that are showing twice (all the ones in the WIP stream). Details here are that I'm reporting from the repository root, and that the stream that is duplicated (WIP) has been branched to 5.2. Yet if I report on the 5.2 stream I don't g...
