unfortunately, the NICs appear to be one physical piece of hardware, so removing one is impossible.
I'll explore the 4 preview option.

yes, and no... these new DL-320s have dual NICs, but the HP utilities allow you to 'cluster' them in a failover manner. VSS Install
Your SoS install cannot find the VSS .dll. By doing a re-install of VSS on your server, and selecting the 'shared database' option, that should fix it. At least it did for me.
