I've been burned by this also -- using Add New Files, and browsing down and adding the new ones, and then it adds them all at the root level, which is of course not what I wanted (I cannot really imagine when I would EVER want that).

bug: checked out location, machine name

The machine name listed in the check out properties appears to have been assembled backwards, and with the wrong slash.

I see something like this:

devmachine3/localgroup

which I expect was supposed to represent:

localgroup\devmachine3

(At least, using Windows notation, as I understand it.)

I found that error message pretty unclear (heh, obviously). I wasn't sure if that was trying to tell me that I want to go run DBCC CHECKDB etc on the Vault database. If that is just a connection error, I'd suggest rewording it to say that it is a connection error. As I didn't know what it meant, or ...

This may be a silly suggestion, but perhaps you could just do a Get Latest Version, tar/gzip up the result, and ftp it to the server, and then tar/gunzip it into place.

re: #1 thanks re: #2 "Find in Files" doesn't exactly sound like what I was asking for? I wanted to be able to pull all texts into a local copy, so I can run grep across them. By grep of course, I really mean my own choice of search tool. Of course, I really already do this, but I miss all ...

Vault IDE freezes worse on 2003 x64

Vault IDE client seems to routinely freeze on Windows 2003 x64. It happens when I alt-tab to it. Of course, because of the alt-tab bug in Vault IDE client (which I reported elsewhere, and I don't remember if I got any response or timeline on when that might get fixed), it isn't immediately obvious. ...

GB-2312 is a very old encoding for simplified Chinese, at least judging by the info on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GB2312 It looks to me like GB-2312 is also known as GB2312-80 because it was created in 1980. It looks like it was obsoleted in 1993 by GBK, which was in turn obsoleted in 2...

RFE: Ability to view deleted items in Vault GUI tree

It is not very convenient to look over the history of files, inasmuch as the ones that were deleted are very obscure -- at least, AFAIK, you have to go into every subfolder one at a time manually, and right-click, and choose Deleted Items tab. (I posted a separate post about the problems of using th...

RFE: resizable and sortable Deleted Item list

Right-click a folder in the Vault GUI (and wait a while for the dialog to appear , grumble about the annoyance of slow right-click responses), and click on the Deleted Items tab, and there is a list of deleted items. This dialog is small and fixed size, and the list is not sortable, so it is inconve...

How do you find the Completed but not Verified items

I don't use the distinction between Completed and Verified, because I don't understand how to use that. If I mark an item as Completed, rather than Verified, it still drops out of My Open list, so I really don't see it thereafter. I kind of work from the My Open list, because it is prominent, and I ...
