Re: using the api to track all changes and other stuff
First, I see in the .chm, the ClientInstance class overview indicates that it "encapsulates one vault server connection." What I would really like to do is be able to have a service running that would capture all check-ins, adds, deletes, etc. and aggregate those up somewhere. I've seen t...

Re: Vault API setup
I recently downloaded Vault API to try and create some build scripts. How do I actually use it? Do I just browse to the folder in a command prompt and start typing in commands? Just need some info to get started. The Vault Client API is a .NET-based API. You'll need a C# development environment (su...

Re: Change Sets
Do you plan on persisting Change Sets throughout Vault in the future? (Of course, they may already be there in the db, but I just didn't see them in my cursory examination of the schema.) By persistence, I mean being able to tag and check in a grouping of files under one bug number, for instance, b...

Thanks for the response. Is there nothing I can do about the disk space? No way to move it off of drive C? Would the import tool mind if I made %appdata%\SourceGear be a junction point leading to a different disk volume? Also, being new here, and having just used Source unSafe, I've been terrified ...

You are correct, VSS Import can be extremely resource intensive. All I can suggest is that you get more RAM and more disk. On the bright side, your estimate of 1.5 days is one of the shortest I've seen. We've had people facing imports of over three weeks. :D I think I heard of at least one group tha...

Re: RSS feed for a project
I have a feed for our repository but is it possible to create a feed for single project or a single solution folder that contains several projects? Thanks! Sorry, no. (For those who don't know, Vault 1.2 (and up) contains an undocumented, unofficial feature which generates RSS feeds of recent check...

Re: Consider releasing a COM interop version
Would you consider releasing a COM wrapper, a basic one can be produced from .NET by specifying the "Register for COM interop" in the project settings (it needs to be a DLL not application though) Is it possible for you to build this COM wrapper yourself if you have the .NET DLL? Or does ...

Why is the sixth license so expensive?
I recently wrote a knowledge base article attempting to explain our perspective on why Vault is priced the way it is. I hope this is helpful:
