OK, I did the following: 1. Stopped the SOS Server service. 2. Renamed the log.txt to log2.txt 3. Started the service. 4. Done. Same issue. I did the following:
1. Change the registry value to Both
2. Stopped and Started the SOS 5 Server service
3. Performed the open from Visual Studio as documented.
Same exact issue.

Indeed it did, thanks. In this instance the user appears to have been mixing sourcesafe options using the VSS IDE as well as the Visual Studio IDE so I could see this happening. In our instance we are properly using only the Visual Studio IDE.

I tried to click on the link that you provided however it doesn't work. Maybe you have to be a member of social.msdn.microsoft.com or something. OK, now unbind the solution and projects and rebind them. Does it work through Source Offsite?
