Ugh... files being unchecked out?!
I must be a flaming idiot! I seem to be accumulating files in my _sgbak folder that I had no idea were there, nor do I understand how they got there! I just went to find an edited set of files, and could find no trace of my edits, and my file was not checked out. Then I searched around and found a c...

Re: Create internally relative links so a branch is comlete?
Well, that's good news in that if I fix them now, hopefully they'll stay fixed. This is a VSS import, yes. EDIT: D'oh - my bad. I cannot find any links which are not relative to 15.1. I don't know what I saw last week - but I'm going to have to assume I just was looking in the wrong branch (the 15.0...

Re: How can I see what it failed to do?!
Excellent - I'll turn off the message boxes. But, then I'd like to ask for a feature request: "Option to show all skipped / not-merged / not-get-latest'd files in messages" Considering the skipped ones not-an-error is fine - but I still would find it immeasurably more useful to know which ...

Feature request: Show links
The search tab is pretty handy - but something I'd like to be able to see: "Shared links".
I currently don't see any way to show all links...

Create internally relative links so a branch is comlete?
I have a trunk - let's call it 15.0 Within that source trunk, I have various shared links - say 15.0\myapp\core\myicon.ico -> 15.0\myapp\resources\English\myicon.ico where -> is links-to. If I branch 15.0 to 15.1, I get a copy of everything under 15.0 as 15.1... except that shared links such as the ...

Awesome. I know that this would hugely impact my scripting & work flow in a positive manner.

Re: Former VSS user, confused by differences
The fact that the files are read-only should - by definition - mean that they can be overwritten by Vault without warning, without default options being considered at all. Just overwrite the files please (because they're read-only, meaning that they're not writable - they're not in edit mode - they...

Re: How can I see what it failed to do?!
I "see" the failures as individual pop-up modal dialog boxes, each one has to be addressed, in sequence. No, no message appears in the Messages tab at any point (Only things like Getting latest version of $/..., and then various Fetched $/..., and capped by Finished get latest of $/... - b...

How can I see what it failed to do?!
Okay - doing a branch of our source base, and other being fast, I'm having major problems with the software. But it is fast. After branching the main trunk, and doing a get latest, then making a few changes, I ended up with VisualStudio becoming confused about some of the bindings. This forced me to...

We used your excellent SoS product.
I believe that handled things correctly - i.e. it used a server URL in its configuration that worked. Not sure if the VS environment worked with it automatically, or if check outs had to be done manually. Manually, I think. Similar issue.

Re: Former VSS user, confused by differences
I just used the checksum scenario as a concrete example, to help make it more understandable. There are many scenarios, all of which should boil down to: If I have it checked out, leave it alone if not, overwrite (roll-back/update) it from source control There is a similar issue in another guise wit...

Re: Former VSS user, confused by differences
I chose not to use overwrite as a default as a safety-measure. But perhaps it's not necessary. After all, if I have it checked out, then overwrite won't overwrite it? <- This would be critical. If that is the case, then I could probably just change default to overwrite. It is just certain files for ...

Re: Does Vault 7.0 Fix the offsite vs. onsite host name issu
This would work if the IP address didn't change. But I tried this in the past - and the dynamic IP address does change (about weekly). So it's just not worth it. If I could create an alias DNS binding on local machine, that would work... but alas, this is not possible, nay? Which is why - for this t...

Re: Does Vault 7.0 Fix the offsite vs. onsite host name issu
Nope. Only external ones.
We're behind a NAT router, and use dynamic DNS to offer access to certain services (e.g. Vault). But the external name and internal name cannot be the same.

Re: Former VSS user, confused by differences
Hmmm... that might be doable. What are the chances that Vault would eventually have such a feature? How is it that other users don't constantly run into Vault refusing to update a file because it considers it "renegade" or "needs merge", I wonder? I can't seem to avoid those cond...
