Re: Vault to Fortress upgrade, problem re-binding

Solved! The process I followed was: 1) Get latest from Fortress 2) Check out .sln file and each project file (.csproj, .vdproj, etc.) Don't overwrite if you've made changes. 3) Close Fortress and delete the cache folder at %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\SourceGear\Fortress_1\Client (t...

Fortress in VS 2003?

Is it possible to use the Fortress client as the source control provider in VS 2003? How is this done? We have a legacy application that did not port well to VS 2005 and the decision was made that we would keep a build box configured to edit the application in VS 2003. However, we would like to cont...

Re: Vault to Fortress upgrade, problem re-binding

They're not working now on the 2nd solution I'm trying. I'm going through the same steps again to see if I can make it work. I'll let you know.

Re: Vault to Fortress upgrade, problem re-binding

After re-binding, when I clicked OK on the Change Bindings dialog, I got the following message: http://i352.photobucket.com/albums/r336/Nihimon/FortressBinding4.jpg This message was then repeated for the LacksValley2.Utilities class library project. Then I got the message: http://i352.photobucket.co...

Re: Vault to Fortress upgrade, problem re-binding

A little more info on our situation. On Monday, we checked in all of our work, made sure nothing was checked out in Vault, backed up the database and uninstalled the Vault Server. A co-worker tried installing the Fortress server, but had some problems and didn't get those resolved until today. In th...

Re: Vault to Fortress upgrade, problem re-binding

The project types are Windows Application, Class Library and Setup Project. I'll see if I can find a simpler example of the same problem.

Re: Vault to Fortress upgrade, problem re-binding

My initial Get was to Get Latest as it was when it was still bound to the Vault VS Enhanced client. I didn't expect doing the Get from Fortress to fix everything. If you read through the steps I followed, you'll see that I completely removed all source control binding from the solution, then re-appl...

Some additional info uncovered by my colleague that may help y'all track this down. In the initial case, when the data project is showing "Unmodified", if we uncheck it so that it's not checked in with the rest of the items, then we immediately try to check-in the solution again, the data ...

Check-Out checking out everything below

I'm probably just missing the option somewhere, but now (and this seems like it's new but I can't verify) when I Check-Out at the solution level, it automatically checks out everything in the solution. I remember before seeing a tree view with check-boxes next to each item, so if I checked out the s...

Thanks for the work-around, that works fine, although I'd prefer not to have the extra versions for files that really haven't changed.

Ok, after reading up on the ChangeSetItems cache file, I felt confident enough to go ahead and delete it. I'm working againg. For what it's worth, I didn't ever upgrade from a 3.x Vault, like the other user did. I started with Vault 4.0. I believe this simply happened when I added a file, then delet...

Ok, I found how to turn on client-side logging and produced the attached file. This seems to be related to another post http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=9761 and probably related to my previous post http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=9829 So, I understand I need to be more ca...
