Error 1705 ?

> You could attempt a reinstall and uninstall...

I tried a reinstall -- I got

Error 1705: A previous installation for this product is in progress. You must undo the changes made by that installation to continue? Do you want to undo those changes?

By the way, is this common for SourceGear Vault to not have a working uninstall? (Now that I see it on two different computers, with different operating systems, I wonder if it is a trend.) What I was really hoping, was a response saying that it was a bug in 3.1.6, and that it has been fixed, and th...

> We can debate whether this is a bug or not I wasn't trying to debate it at all -- actually, it never occurred to me that some might find it desirable to deliberately send users to an error page. I had merely assumed without thinking about it, that it was a mistake, and that you had meant to send t...

Both XPSP2 and 2003SP1 lacking Add/Remove entries for Vault

(You must select a topic to reply to)

The machine where the uninstall hung, and now SourceGear Vault is missing from Add/Remove, is Windows XPSP2.

I see another machine (2003SP1) which has SourceGear Vault 3.1.7 installed, and which also lacks an entry in Add/Remove.

("You must select a topic to reply to" bug is still present in forums) I tried to uninstall that Vault 3.1.6, and the uninstall hung, and I hit cancel, and that hung. I had to use the cold off button. Now Vault 3.1.6 is not listed in the Add/Remove, but the files are still present on the h...

Yes, apparently I completely misunderstood, and you were not referring to either Domain or Local Admin groups at all...

Sorry about that.

Works here

I'm working with 3.1.6 client and server, and I have to put in comments when I add a file -- otherwise I get the "Check In comments are required for this Repository" (sic) error.

I think I got confused partway through this process, and now there are multiple related threads here also confusing me. I think part of my confusion was not understanding the security model. I gather the person running the Vault Admin tool is supposed to run as a local windows administrator -- I had...

I'm not sure if I'm entirely following, because, well, I got confused, but it sounded like you were advocating something that sounds a bit odd to me: Are you saying that Vault administrators should (or must) also be administrators on the machine running Vault? Or are you saying that they should (or ...

Is there really a way to use active directory authentication with remote clients who are not in a forest with the server?

Uhoh, it just occurred to me that maybe this means I should ask, are the passwords in the Vault profiles secured?

I was simply assuming they were protected by DPAPI.

I hope they're not "protected" by a ROT-13 "encryption".

One might cynically suggest that security is being lessened everytime you push the user towards taping a password to a monitor, because the software won't remember it (and put it somewhere like DPAPI storage, which might well be more secure than taped to aforesaid monitor), and the user doesn't want...

Not that I know of -- that is why I asked you if it ships this way.

Or, could it be a past bug carried through?

If a previous version of the server had this bug, would it be preserved across upgrades to newer versions?

Sounds like it was designed for a small single-user, single-machine setup :(

I did observe that several copies of msiexec.exe were running, at least two under my logon session and one under the system logon sesion.

Does that mean that that "0 seconds remaining" dialog is not yours, but from either Windows Installer or the WISE engine?
