Feature request: filtering pending changes
Hi, I would like to request a feature for the Fortress client. It would be great if one could filter the pending changes window to only show / include items with specific properties. For instance, I updated some projects and solutions and I wanted to check in the related solution and project files. ...

Mergin branches
Hi, we're using the merge branches wizzard to merge changes we've made to a production tree. I've pinned the production tree so no accidental check-ins can happen. When a new production version is released, I unpin the tree, merge the changes from the development folder and pin it again. I'm labelli...

Re: Multiple VS instances
Ah, the auto refresh setting might be what I was looking for, I'll dive into that. I'm not losing changes, but the changes committed in client A aren't reflected in client B (they're still listed as changes there). So it's indeed a refresh problem, which the auto refresh time might solve. Is there a...

Re: Multiple VS instances
I don't see how that would help? The changes are being committed fine, it's just the second VS plugin which doesn't refresh it's pending changes list. The changes are gone when I reopen the solution, so then the behaviour is as expected.

Re: Multiple VS instances
It's the same project on the same location on my local harddrive. Not sure about sharing in Fortress; I just add an existing project to my solution in VS and Fortress picked it up as I expected (as a already source controlled project).

Multiple VS instances
Hello, I frequently use multiple instances of Visual Studio to write code. Now sometimes two of those instances will both have the same projects open (framework projects which are used across solutions). Now when I check-in changes made to sourcefiles in instance A, those changes aren't reflected in...

Preventing check-ins on branched folder
Hi, We've recently started using the branching feature of Fortress and are very pleased with it. Now I came across a developer who checked in code directly into the main branch. Offcourse I don't want my developers checking in code directly, they should use the appropriate development branch and tha...

Re: Case: planning / item tracking / hours declaration
But you do have 'custom fields' function. What I would like to post as a feature request: being able to create our own custom fields with a custom name and specified type. That way I could create the fields I need with the correct datatypes (int, datetime). The interface would have to be dynamic to ...

Case: planning / item tracking / hours declaration
Hi, Untill this day we've never really used the item tracking possibilities of Fortress. We did try a few projects where we created milestones and items to check code into. This works fine, but I wondered if it's possible to extend the functionality a bit. Apart from Fortress, we also use a webbased...

Problems using Eclipse plugin
Hello, we have a Fortress server setup which we use frequently using the Fortress GUI client and the Visual Studio plugin. Now our other development team, which program Progress software, was planning to try out Fortress to see if it fits their needs. I setup a seperate repository and granted the te...

Let us know if we can answer any other questions. Well I would still like to know if Vault/Fortress provides any usable options for these kind of problems. The second project file seems like a good solution but that hasn't got anything to do with source control as far as I know (except for storing ...

is that necessary to make it available at fortress.company.com? No, that isn't a requirement. Your users could use an IP address to connect. Or you could make some complex name such as XYZ123ABC.company.com if you are concerned about outsiders randomly checking fortress.company.com (sort of like se...

Moving entire Fortress installation
Hello, we're currently in the process of migrating our entire serverpark to new servers. I have to design a plan for migrating the Fortress environment to it's new location. Currently both front and back-end apps are setup on the same machine and hosted at port 80; a fairly regular setup I think. In...
