I tried my proposed alternative and that does not work. I seem to be left with one of two choices: 1. Learn to like branching (which may be doable, though I would miss the auto-propagation of corrections from earlier versions to later versions). 2. Beg for sharing from the root folders. When I first...

Keep in mind that I label the root folder: $/Release 6.0 . Your solution seems just horribly inconvenient given that I numerous folders under $/Release 6.0 and I apparently cannot multi-select these folders, look up a common label (which is inherited), and do the share in a single operation. Honestl...

Can I share to new root-level folder?
I'm trying to figure out how I would go about doing a share in Vault from a label. To do this in SourceSafe, I would do a labels-only history on the desired source branch, pick the label I wanted, click Share, select the root folder to share to, and then I am prompted for a new folder name for the s...

Not really. The problem is that I have like 50 folders off of $/ and I only want to keep about 4 of them. My import would take probably a week and then I'd spend even more time deleting unwanted branches. I have a workaround for this, but it too takes time (though still much faster than importing al...

Backup “database” vs. Backup “repository”
I have a number of repositories in my Vault database. Is there any way for me to do a backup of a single repository as opposed to backing up the entire Vault database (containing all repositories)? If not, I think it would be a nice feature to be able to backup and restore a single repository. Alter...

Can I select multiple projects in SourceSafe Import Tool?
Is there any way for me to select multiple source projects in the SourceSafe Import Tool? Once I get to the Select Project page in the import wizard it seems as though I can only select the root project $/ (i.e., all projects) or just 1 particular project off of the root. However, in my case, I woul...

Pinning Problem with SourceSafe Import Tool
I am using the very latest Vault tools (3.5.1) and seem to be having a problem with SourceSafe imports. For reasons unknown, some files are being imported and marked as pinned to an earlier version. Therefore, when I do a "get latest", I end up getting the pinned version. Yet in the Source...

Is Archive / Purge supported?
In SourceSafe, I could archive and delete history older than a specified date or label. Is there anything analogous in Vault? I looked but couldn’t find anything.

As a feature request, I would like to see: 1. The ability to search for pinned / unpinned items from the search tab 2. From the resulting search list above, be able to select items in that list and request that they become pinned / unpinned (via right mouse or menu) 3. A command-line interface to pi...

How can I search for Pinned files?
From the Search tab, I would like to be able to search for pinned files. However, I do not see this as an option. I realize that I can get the pin / unpin history, but this is not the same thing. Alternatively, I would also like to search for unpinned files. At the present time, one of the things I'...
