Server 2008 R2 64Bit strange behavior after install

The scenario: We are moving the vault database from a Server 2003 (32 Bit) to a 64 bit Server 2008 R2 (among other things). We installed the new server on new hardware, gave it a name 'NewX', copied the files and stuff from 'X' to 'NewX', then renamed 'X'->'OldX' and 'NewX' -> 'X' (just so the inter...

Re: Vault Server: Problem logging in after installation

In my case, it was not a virtual machine.

It was a new install.

Re: Vault Server: Problem logging in after installation

I ran into the same problem installing a vault server for a customer on a windows 7 ultimate desktop. Even after setting the sysadmin property for Network Service, I had to uninstall and reinstall the vault server before it would connect as the Admin user.

Re: VS2010 Beta 2 - unable to diff files

Yes, if change the configuration from %VAULT_EXE_DIR% to C:\Program Files ..... as an absolute location, I can diff from VS2010 now (I'll change merge to the same thing). I guess you need to figure out while the %VAULT_EXE_DIR% environment/macro isn't defined in this particular environment. Will pos...

Re: VS2010 Beta 2 - unable to diff files

Just an aside observed while I was trying to figure out what was going on. Running the assembling binding log viewer to see if I could see someone failing to load a key DLL, I observed that both for VS2010 and VS2008 an attempt (and failure) to load VaultClientNetLib.XmlSerializers, Version=5.0.1.18...

Re: VS2010 Beta 2 - unable to diff files

Further information for you; this behaviour seems isolated to machines running windows 7; another system running windows XP has no problems. Two systems tested so far with Windows 7 64 bit have the problem. I am having someone running Vista install VS2010 Beta 2 and we'll set what happens there (be ...

VS2010 Beta 2 - unable to diff files

Using Compare operation in VS2010, Beta 2 results in 'Diff application /sgdm.exe could not be found'; the same applies to 'Diff' from a View History explorer from VS 2010. We are using Vault 5.0.1 (18729) I converted our solution from VS2008 to VS2010 without problem. I have checked all the settings...

Re: Access Fortress repository with Vault client ?

Thanks for the reply. I have decided it is easier to stick with one platform. I removed Fortress and installed the vault server, and updated the office so everyone agrees as to what version they are using.

Access Fortress repository with Vault client ?

I have set up a single user Fortress (1.1.4) repository in my home LAN for personal development; Our office currently only uses Vault (4.1.2). I have the vault client for accessing the office repository (version 4.1.2). Attempts to use this vault client to access the new Fortress home respository ha...

Re: 4.1.2 upgrade fails from 4.1.1

Wow, that was scary. I have no idea what corrected the problem. Persistence pays off I guess. I stopped the SQL Server Agent (because something I read warned about doing this if using the SQL server in single user mode, but I'm not sure that 'single user' mode the article was referring to was the sa...

4.1.2 upgrade fails from 4.1.1

Trying to update to 4.1.2, the first installation failed with (from the installer log) Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action CustomActionExe.exe, loca...

Suggestion: more criteria for viewing history

When entering criteria for viewing history, I want to be able to *exclude* items based on a partial comment match (so I can exclude the "Merged to Head" entries, for instance). Currently one can only *include* based on a partial match, or include only records having a non-null comment (the...

Re: That's a slightly older version

Sorry, I didn't know which version you had. The version bundled with 4.0.4 is equivalent to the standalone 3.0.2 version which still has the problem. The 3.1 standalone version has the fix. If you want, you can grab a free copy of the new 3.1 version from the <a href="http://www.sourcegear.com...
