Binary files not checking in and reverting
Another issue with Vault 5.0.1.18729 and the Visual Studio 2008 enhanced client is that binary files do not always check in, and often revert even when they say ‘Checked in.’ This has happened to several users multiple times with SWFs and images of various types. Steps to reproduce: 1. Check out a b...

CRITICAL: Overwrite other users' changes with VS client
We are using Vault 5.0.1.18729 and Visual Studio 2008 with the enhanced client. The issue is that when you check out, it does not automatically get the latest version of the file. But, when checking out using the standalone Vault client, it does get the latest version as expected. Steps to reproduce...

Re: CRITICAL: Unable to use Enhanced Client
This did not work. In fact, when I followed the instructions you provided, nothing happened.
In any case, our IT dept confirmed that I am an administrator with full rights on my machine, so the previous attempts would have been run under an administrator account.

CRITICAL: Unable to use Enhanced Client
I am running VS 2008 SP 1 on Windows XP. We recently upgraded to Vault 5.0.1. Everything was fine. In an effort to test the performance impact of Vault, I uninstalled the Vault client. When I reinstalled it, I was unable to select the Enhanced Client in the Plug-In Selection Dialog in Visual Studio....

Re: VS 2010 Beta 2
Yes. I can check out, check in, get latest, etc. All those options display in the context menu.

Re: VS 2010 Beta 2
Thanks, that worked. However, I'm now seeing another issue. For website projects (without a .csproj file), no lock icons or check icons are showing up in the VS solution explorer. I can't see the status of any files. (It seems to be fine for files that are inside a web application project (with a .c...

VS 2010 Beta 2
I just installed VS 2010 Beta 2. We're running Vault 5.0.
Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the Vault client in order to install the Enhanced client for VS 2010?

Best practices for optimal performance
We seem to have problems with performance when using Vault, and we are wondering if there are some best practices you can recommend to optimize performance. Here are some of the specifics. I don't know how much of this is relevant, but I'm trying to provide as much background detail as I can. - Our ...

Re: Using the shelve feature
From the Vault Pending Changes window, I click "Shelve All," which opens the "Shelve Changes" window. I have to give the shelveset a name. I want to give it the same name as the existing shelveset. The only way I can see to get that is to close the "Shelve Changes" wind...

Using the shelve feature
We just installed 5.0.1, and we're discussing how to use the shelve feature. Here's a common scenario: I'm working on a file (or set of files), and I want to preserve my work as I go (such as end-of-day or just as I reach certain points in the development process but I'm not quite ready to check in)...

Re: User editing without getting latest
They have "Attempt Automatic Merge." But how can that have any bearing? They don't have a modified working copy. This is a case of users editing files without getting latest, and checking them in. They are not seeing the hourglass.

Re: User editing without getting latest
We have had another instance of this. Different user, but the same Visual Studio project. It happens to be an ASP.Net MVC project, the only one we are working on, though I don't see why that would make any difference. There is no contention issue. The user edits the file in VS, it is automatically c...
