i guess i didn't ask in my last post. are you obliterating something w/ a large amount of history? obliterate performance has a lot of work to do - remove instances from all labels, historical trees/branches, shares, and item history. then, of course, the actual deletion of rows in database tables. ...

mike: here's a guess - find the directory where all vss/sos servers go to to access the srcsafe.ini file. now move up to the parent directory. copy that folder and all sub entries to the new machine. My question is about sourceoffsite. you might want to post this question on the sourceoffsite forum ...

darren: can i assume you're using windows 2003 server? there is an issue with the .net provided "browse" dialog box under windows 2003 server . since .net handles this dialog differently in windows 2000, windows xp, and windows 2003 server, we will be replacing this dialog in a near future...

i'm not certain i understand your question. are you asking how to import a vss database into vault? or is your question related to sourceoffsite?

it is not the number of files, but the history behind them. if you imported a vss database w/ 10 years of data, it can take a long time to remove a repository.

Shadow Folders on Windows 2003 Server

Vault Shadow Folders will not work on Windows 2003 without additional configuration. Either of these configurations have been verified to work on Windows 2003 server. Due to security settings in IIS 6, Vault's Shadow Folders must be run using identity impersonation. The Custom .Net account used for ...

this may be a red-herring, as i'm not the authority - i mostly work server side - but i'll try the first thing that comes to mind. is there some sort of security permissions setting on : "C:\AspAllianceClusterWeb\Web References\AspAlliance.Services\_sgvault\" or the state file that the cli...

so you do not give each build an individual label? ok. but is there a reason not to? i guess if you don't really need the build, no need to keep the label.

am i off base here?

perhaps you can try an easier test:

with a browser try - http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/vaultservice/vaultservice.asmx

do you get the vault service description page? if not, is there anything in the page's error description that shows you the problem?

there is not enough information here. can you send me the log files (zipped up) from the server. by default you can find them in %systemroot%\temp\sgvault\ on the server machine.

you can attach it in a private message http://support.sourcegear.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=6

thanks,

kirin: your sos server must be able to browse to the vss directory (using a UNC \\machine\share\pathtosrcsafe.ini ) through windows file sharing. this is usually handled through netbios over tcp/ip ( ports 137-139 ). also note, the sos service must be configured to run under an account which has acc...

assuming you are on a non-windows 2003 server machine...

1) invoke "set working folder" on the folder you wish to remove a working folder.
2) delete the text for the folder name.
3) click ok.
