Thanks Jeff, Everything looks right, it's just incredibly slow. So slow, that when Exchange 2003 is getting installed, the MSInstaller issues an event record that says it's stopped. This happens while it's running aspnet_regiis.exe. Right now, I'm just trying to decide if it's an ASP.NET problem or ...

A question about installing ASP.NET
I'm working on a Win 2003 server that is also a domain controller. When ASP.NET is installed, or run the Aspnet_regiis.exe -i command, the install takes about 15 minutes. Is this normal??? When looking at the ASPNETSeup.log, there is one section that stands out: 2005-02-10 16:33:03 Success Install t...

I finally figured out how to get a log file from shadow folder processing, and saw the authentication problems. I tried manuallly adding back the missing user/password keys in the web.config file, and that didn't work. Also tried the identity impersonate, which also failed. 2/4/2005 10:53:43 PM <sha...

Heres a little more information from the vault log file after I turned on debug mode. Notice that there are two calls to VaultShadowFolderService.asmx. One plugin uses Vault and the other uses vault.dts. ----2/4/2005 9:26:54 PM don--XPDONHOME(192.168.5.77)--SSL Disabled Retrieved 2 pluginInfos for t...

Shadows Folder problems: Win2K server and vault 3.0.2
I recently upgraded to vault server 3.0.2 on a Win2K server with all service updates. This afternoon, I got a report that shadow folders are no longer working. I brought up Vault Admin client, and found all the shadow folder definitions were missing... I can only guess that this happened during the ...

Valik, Have you looked into the resource utilization on the Windows side? Is the vault server being shared by other applications? 640MB might not be enough memory for the server. Use the Windows Task Manager and look at the performance tab. You might be doing a lot of paging to your swap file which ...

Dave, Good find! Do you really have that many adapters??? You might want to check for a spyware infestation that adds hooks to the TCP/IP stack. Do a Start>Run>MSINFO32. Then, expand Components>Network>Adapter. You should have 10-12 entries in the list for your adapter. There was an article in PC Ma...

Dave,
A long shot, but try lowering your MTU value on your network card to something like 1002. The easy way is to download DRTCP from:
http://www.dslreports.com/drtcp
Real bummer being halfway around the world and then finding out something doesn't work.

Just curious, but after the VPN connection has been established, what IP address are you trying to use to access the Vault server? When VPN is down, you are using a public IP address. After establishing a VPN tunnel, you should be using an private (LAN) address for the server. For example, when my V...

Jeff, Since it was relatively quiet this afternoon, I got all the developers to give me thirty minutes to try the upgrade. I installed the 3.0.1 server onto 2.0.6. After the install, I immediately check the \Inetpub\wwwroot\VaultService\VaultShadowFolder\bin folder. The vaultlib.dll was again missin...
