Deleting Attachments
This is a feature request which has come up several times in the past going all the way back to Dragnet (http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=4193&p=45883&hilit=delete+attachments#p45883) and still into Fortress 2.0.1 (http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=...

Running a Saved Query Behind the Scenes
I have used SQL Reporting Services to build a few custom reports for my company, issuing SQL SELECTs directly against the databases. Now I have a scenario where the report that we want to build is based on a saved query that is already defined in Fortress. Is there an easy way that I could call for ...

Re: Fortress Item Number in Source Code
Beth, you're talking about the check-in comment inside Fortress which can be seen during a Show History, right? Not a comment section within an individual source code file?

Re: Possible new field?
While it doesn't handle the "limit to list" abilities of a drop-down, while waiting for the new feature to be released, you could use Tags to help with this.
From the VaultBlog, here is one way to do it: http://vaultblog.sourcegear.com/article ... s-tag-list

Re: SQL database Version
Vikassethi, in our environment, we also use an approach similar to what Dan has described, in that we have scripts for each of our Functions, Views, Stored Procedures, Jobs, and so on. Then we also have a set of specialty one-time scripts that can only be executed once in any instance of our databas...

Re: Fortress and Cruisecontrol
Zarty, I want to jump in here and add some emphasis to one of the points that Beth made. She mentioned that in Fortress you can tie your check-in changesets to one or more items in the issue tracking portion of the system. As the manager of a team of a half-dozen developers, some senior, some junior...

Re: Large Repository Auto Get Latest Version
@AjarnMark That sounds like a marvelous idea. Please can you point me to some reference on how I can setup shadow folders. Here's a link to information for Shadow Folders with Vault. I assume (as dangerous as that is) that this will also work with Fortress, but I have not tried it. http://download....

Re: Large Repository Auto Get Latest Version
What is the most effective way to keep a working space up to date with the latest version of a repository. I want this workspace to update everytime something new is committed to my repository so i can utilise Source Gear as a publishing mechanism for my websites. If this is the objective, then ski...

Re: Pin/Rollback from Command-Line Client
While waiting for the new feature, couldn't you accomplish your goal through branching and merging? Just thought I'd throw out the idea for consideration. The way we do it is that in our project folder, we have a TRUNK and a BRANCHES folder. TRUNK is where we do active development. At the point that...

Re: Unable to Update Bugs with Added Files
Please add my vote as well. And if it is not this far reaching, I would also request that any changes to the source code repository be link-able to Items (renaming files/folders, and creation of folders come to mind as other actions not currently logged against Items). Another "work-around"...

Re: Fortress fans: Post your testimonials here
Back in January of 2007, we purchased SourceGear Vault and Dragnet (later, Fortress) as a replacement for Microsoft Visual SourceSafe and Serena TeamTrack. This has been a fantastic experience, a great success, and we have never looked back! My name is Mark Caldwell, and at the time of this writing,...

Re: checked in file history, more info needed
Linda,
In the situation where the developer just typed in the bug number and did not add anything to the comments to point to the item, is there anything behind the scenes (in the database?) that I as the DBA could directly query in order to discover the related items?

Re: Hiding "SourceCode Control" tab for web only testers
...I would not like them to default to the "SourceCode Control" tab when they log in... This is an interesting statement because on our installation of Fortress, the users default to the Item tracking tab when they login and I did not configure anything special for that. Perhaps your team...

Re: Disk size increase with sharing/branching ??
Joel, this may not be your situation, but thought I'd throw out our experience that sounded similar in case it helped. Within my company, we had some confusion in communication where some people were discussing amount of disk space consumed in their working folder due to branches and shares, and con...
