Well the files that were (are somewhere else) checked out were obviously modified and their timestamp changed at that time by my editor. The files that are renegade that I hadn't touched, I just checked 1 of them and it is still read-only and the timestamp on it matches the timestamp on the _sgvault...

Linda, I just encountered an odd related problem. I have a few (3) checked out and edited files (from the past day or 2). Somehow today, 2 of those files are Renegade, and yet when I try to check them out again, it tells me that I already have them checked out somewhere else. The other location it s...

Thanks Linda, that answers my question. I'll have to wait and see whether the problem persists, and if it does I'll give the Max Pool Size attribute a shot. I tossed the 1 editor into my example because my editor (Codewright) is configured to connect to Vault (it uses SCC, the same as Visual Studio)...

Thanks Linda, I'll check that out. Meantime I looked at our web.config file and <add key="ConnectString" value="Application Name='SourceGear Vault Server'; Connection Reset='true'; Server=(local); Database=sgvault; User ID=sgvaultuser; pwd=xxxxxxxx=" /> Note that there is no Max ...

Vault server loses DB connection

This just started happening a few days ago. I think last night was the 3rd or 4th time this week. I don't know of any process that has changed recently. The only other datapoint I found looking at the event log was that the Vault database backup finished at 10:33pm. The Vault server and SQL server a...

Reading this brought some additional feature requests to mind  1st, when I read Dan's reply, I hadn't realized that I could save Show History results as an html file. That's nice, but you can't save Show History results at all if you are showing changeset (version) history, which is the histor...

I just want to re-iterate what Greg said. We use BeyondCompare here as well. The integration is great. I personally like the way it presents the diff better than SGDM, and wish it had merge capabilities. Also, there are no manual steps (such as getting "the latest version out of the repository ...

I see the difference, however is there a downside to branching it? I'd think it would be nice, and possibly very useful, to have the history of the original available in the "copy". Is there something else that branching the file instead of newly adding it makes difficult? Or is it that yo...

I haven't, but isn't Branch Copy? Or I guess what I mean is, how is the Branch command different from what you'd expect Copy to do?

Meantime, if what your users want to do is move a file, I'd suggest that you tell them about Vault's "Move" command. Unfortunately it isn't on the context menu, so you must access it from the main File menu, but it does exist, and actually performs the operation your users actually want to...

Vault should be able to handle files of any kind or size - they are all the same to the backend server. And Vault does support showing differences for text files, but not for files that are treated as binary, like image files or Word documents. Dan, I'm pretty sure that I've done diff's on files th...

I bet I know what the problem is. Do you have a folder on the path to your selected folder cloaked? Search doesn't seem to search in cloaked folders, which isn't the behavior I expected, and can be either a good thing or a bad thing. I cloak folders to prevent large amounts of data I don't care abou...
