We'll favor stability over performance. So based on your answer we'll go with SQL Server 2005. As for Windows Server 2003 64 bits. My network admin said that it will involve quite some works to reinstall the OS from scratch. Adding the switch to SQL Server 2005, this is almost a rebuild of a new ser...

What's the purpose of your branching? To maintain releases? Do QA? That might help us answer your question. To do release. The branch will contain a snapshot of the current version we deem stable for a release. Subsequently, on there will be possibly some minor code changes in the release that we'l...

Recommendation OS & SQL Server for Vault 4.12

Hi, We are currently using Vault 3.53 on Windows 2003 standard 32 bits, SQL Server 2000. We plan to move to Vault 4.x. We would like to use this opportunity to bring our server infrastructure up to date. Q1: What do you recommend as Operating System? Q2: We'd like to upgrade SQL Server from 2000 to ...

Binary files: worth branching or not?

Hi, Using Vault Server & Client v3.53. Scenario: Branching the Vault Folder named "MyProject". It contains several Visual Studio solutions, and some subfolders containing mostly mergeable files. The VS solutions reference some external DLLs (3rd party and in house assemblies) totalling...

SccLocalPath in solution file for web project

Hi, Can you please help me to understand better the value of SccLocalPath in a VS2003 solution file? I have two solutions files where SccLocalPath contains different values and seems to work OK. I would like to know how Vault interprets the real path for a web project in case the solution is moved. ...

Update: issue solved. We sent our sgvault DB to SourceGear tech support. In spite of a long investigation SG could not reproduce the issue, and suggest to make a clean re-installation: backup sgvault DB, uninstall Vault Server 3.52, restore DB, redownload Vault Server 3.53 and re-install. I also too...

Mixing two Concurrent Development Mode

Hi, Client + Server: 3.53 We use the default mode for Concurrent Development Mode which is "Check Out / Edit / Check In (VSS Mode)". Some team members found the exclusive lock of VSS mode is rather inconvenient. They would prefer to opt for the style "Edit / Merge / Commit (CVS Mode)&...

It's old because the version on disk is the previous version than what is in the repository. If you diff against the previous version in the repository, it takes the working folder version for the diff and they will match, yet it still is a version behind the latest version in Vault. I think I know...
