Diff doesn't work anymore with version 4.1 Client

Post by Jean-Marc van der Kolk » Tue Mar 01, 2005 6:01 am

The diff functionality doesn't work anymore with the version 4.1 Client. sgdm.exe will not run because MSVCR71.DLL is missing. I need to manually copy the DLL to the SourceOffsite folder. Not sure what happens on PC's without the .Net framework (that's where the file needs to be copied from).

This is a serious error in either sgdm.exe or in the install package that will prevent me from rolling this version out to users.

Any idea when a new install is available that solves this problem?

We're working on our next release (4.1.2) at the moment and plan to include a fix for this problem at that time. It should be available by the end of the month.

Corey, could you give an update on the availability of 4.1.2?

I was just about to upgrade from 4.0.2 to 4.1 when I noticed this posting earlier this week and thought it better to wait.

The Windows version is basically ready, but we've had a delay with our Unix builds, so that's the holdup for the moment. We still want to release all versions at the same time. It may be another 2-4 weeks.

Thanks for the update Corey.

Of course, it's the windows version we use, but I can understand you wishing to synchronise releases for all platforms.

Is there a list of mods/issues that 4.1.2 addresses available so that I can decide whether to update to 4.1.0 now rather than wait?

As of today, here's a list of the issues we plan to address with 4.1.2:

1. Files residing in local working folders but not added to source control now show up correctly when performing a Project Diff.

2. Setting the time stamp of files to be "modification" time now works when performing a Get By Label on a project.

3. When you Undo Checkout on an unmodified file, it is now set back to be read-only.

4. Only users with VSS Destroy rights can now Deploy web projects.

5. The performance of Get Latest on an individual folder with lots of files will no longer decrease during the length of the operation.

6. Unix client correctly handles non-ASCII characters in files.

Thanks for the information. :)

I presume that MSVCR71.DLL being missing from 4.1 is an install package issue and that will be fixed also?

Yes, we're still investigating the MSVCR71.DLL problem, and will include a fix to the installer when one is ready. It has only seemed to be a problem for a small number of our customers.

Update on 4.1.2 release

Is there any information on the expected release date of 4.1.2?

We're trying to finish testing of our Unix client. One of the bugs we fixed in the Unix client has required a lot of regression testing. We plan to have the release ready by the end of the month.

Are you aware that this is not only an issue when performing a Get By Label, but also happens during a standard GetProject command?

Version 4.1.2

Post by deGilde » Thu Apr 28, 2005 11:50 pm

Could you at least notify your EXPECTED release date for version 4.1.2?

I'm still waiting for a bugfix for the directory diff bug on a platform I'm not using...
