SOS 4.0 Testing

Post by Thomas » Wed Apr 28, 2004 9:18 am

Hi,
when I try to connect to a installed demo Verion of SOS Server 4.0 I get this messages on the SOS server log:

28.04.2004 17:09:02 - Connection accepted from 10.103.9.109:2884, session id is 5.
28.04.2004 17:09:35 - 5: Exception during Login: COM object with CLSID {783CD4E4-9D54-11CF-B8EE-00608CC9A71F} is either not valid or not registered.
28.04.2004 17:09:35 - 5: COM object with CLSID {783CD4E4-9D54-11CF-B8EE-00608CC9A71F} is either not valid or not registered.

On the Demo version there is no key to generate. How is it possible to test SOS for 30 days???
What setting must I do on the Server

This error indicates that the SOS Server can't find the SourceSafe Automation Component or API. Is a copy of the Visual SourceSafe Client installed on the SOS Server machine? It provides the API that SOS uses to communicate with the VSS database.

If a VSS Client is on the SOS Server machine, you may need to register the ssapi.dll file. The steps are in this post:

An SOS Server doesn't generate the demo key until the server service has started.
