if you attempt to access a collab related bug/discussion and receive a "cookie failure" message from the login page, you may want to investigate this problem.

it has been reported on many non-microsoft web sites (at the time of this posting) that ie6 has a problem mapping back a cookie to a server where the server name contains an "_" (underscore) character (or other non-alphanumeric character).

http://www.tek-tips.com/gviewthread.cfm ... qid/409906 - search for the message from PaulFram (Programmer) Oct 8, 2003

http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=15219 - search for underscore on the page.

the easiest thing to do in this case is to rename your server machine, removing any offending characters. (ie. my_machine to mymachine)

PLEASE NOTE - renaming a machine can lead to other problems (invalid certificates for ssl, invalid machine name for gg_sql_server if sql server was installed locally, etc). these things can be changed by hand, but perhaps the safest thing to do is uninstall the collab server (keeping your existing database), and re-install the collab server. this will correctly use the "new" machine name for these items.

if this does not solve your problem, please double check your cookie / privacy policy settings to allow cookies from the collab server
