I have a client that uses SOS Collab.
I use VSS locally.

How can I get SOS to be the source control for his project files?
It's not even an option as "default active source control" in VFP's option.

Thanks

This is a known issue.

The list of Source Code Control Providers is stored in the system registry under:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SourceCodeControlProvider\InstalledSCCProviders

It appears that Visual FoxPro stores a cached copy of this particular registry key. For some reason, this cache is not updated when a new value is added to this key. An update has to be forced.

We have found that renaming one of the value names in this registry key forces an update of the cache.

The following steps should correct this problem:

1. Exit Visual FoxPro.
2. Launch the Registry Editor (regedit.exe)
3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SourceCodeControlProvider\InstalledSCCProviders.
4. Under this key, right-click one of the value names that existed before SOS Collab was installed and select "rename". Add an "B" to the end of the name and save it.
5. Now, right-click the value name again and select "rename". Remove the "B" from the value name and save it. So, the value name should now be as it was initially.
6. Exit the Registry.

Next time you launch Visual FoxPro, SOS Collab should now be listed as an active SCC provider. Choose SOS Collab from the drop-down box and click "Set As Default" to make SOS Collab your default SCC Provider.

Thanks for the registry tip.. that got it to be "seen" in vfp.

However, when I go to "join" a project to source control; it goes thru to a screen and then stops...

Any ideas? Joining a vss is no problem.

Does the project already exist in SourceSafe or are you trying to add it to source control for the first time?

Does the project file reside in the "$/SQL Utilities/SecAdmin/SQL Utilities" folder?

Can you explain what you mean by "after I browse to it"? Do you mean you select the Change button in the dialog you attached? Or are you referring to browsing in a different dialog?

yes -- I use the buttons to locate the project I want to attach to.. I select the one that contains the source code for the project I've got open -- and that's the result.

So you use the Change button to select the project "$/SQL Utilities/SecAdmin", but after you select it, the project "$/SQL Utilities/SecAdmin/SQL Utilities" appears in the dialog instead?

I don't think we've seen that happen before. We'll have to try to reproduce the problem here. Do you have other VFP projects that you can test with to see if they work or not when attaching them to source control?

I canot attach any existing project -- I can create a projet and add it to SOS database, but nothing that's existing....

ok; I'll just call the integration non-functioning & report my testing results.

Thanks for your time.

Here's some more images, hopefully to explain what I'm doing & hopefully shed light on what I'm doing wrong.

sourcecontrolselected -- this shows sos is selected as source control provider.

vfpproject -- this shows the project open, the dir it's in, etc.

projectshown -- this is the SOS Client showing the project exists in SOS

joining1 -- shows how I'm attempting join an existing project file (PJX) to project in SOS database.

selectnetlibproejct -- shows me picking the correctd sos database (Ommited is hte login screen to hide details that could comprimize client's data)

selectedsosfolder -- this shows the details are appropriate.

oknotavailabe - everything is correct.. but ok is not selectable.

Any ideas? I hope this helps more.

Thank you for your time.
