Vault Extremely Slow

Post by BA » Tue Apr 05, 2005 5:33 pm

We just upgraded to Vault 3.0.5.

Since the upgrade, we have been experiencing extremely slow performance from the Vault server when loading the repository structure, getting latest versions, check ins, checkouts, etc. Sometimes loading the repository structure takes up to 25 mins, checking out a single file takes 15 mins and taking out tree of several files takes 45 mins.

Resolution on this issue is extremely urgent as it is affecting our entire development team. Would appreciate a quick reply.

I have spoken to Linda Bauer earlier today and am posting this issue to be able to keep track of it and get opinions of other experts.

I cannot say this is the problem in your specific case, but we've identified something in one of the stored procedures when a user's client side cache is out of date.

We will need to gather more information to see if this is indeed the cause. Linda will contact you tomorrow (Wed April 6th) to gather more information.

A couple of things that crossed my mind tonight...

Do you run with Folder Security Enabled?

Do you use the Vault GUI or VS.Net / Vault IDE client?

Performance has been stable so far since the optimization stored proc was executed in the database. Thanks for the support.
