1.1.4 installation/upgrade problem

Post by bobmitton » Mon Mar 23, 2009 12:45 pm

I'm upgrading from 1.0.6 to 1.1.4. Server side worked perfectly. Now I'm trying to upgrade my client. I got part way through the install (really, just the uninstall of 1.0.6) then it crashed. 1.0.6 isn't there anymore, as far as I can tell, but 1.1.4 won't install. I get the following error:

Error# 1721 There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run.

I'm using FortressClient_1_1_4_18402.msi on Vista 32bit.

Help!

Are you installing the client on the Fortress server or on a different machine?

If you are installing on the Fortress server, I'd recommend checking out the Fortress 1.1.4 Release Notes. You will need to use the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility to cleanly remove the Fortress 1.1.4 client. Instructions are posted here: Uninstall Fortress 1.0.6.

If this is just a client on a separate machine, then just use the same instructions, but for removing the Fortress Client.

I'm trying to install the client on a separate machine, not the server. I tried following the instructions in the link (deleting the folder in Program Files, deleting the start menu item), still no joy. Same error.

Did you run the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility? There are probably entries in the registry yet. You could also just go through the registry and look for entries for SourceGear, but using the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility is safer.
