Vault/Fortress BETA

I wanted to test out the new Fortress 2 Beta product. However we currently run Vault 4.1.3. Can I take a backup of that and restore it to another SQL Server 2005 and then load the Fortress 2 Beta product? Will it upgrade the Vault 4.1.3 database righ there or do I have to load Vault 5 Beta and then upgrade to Fortress 2 Beta?

You have it correct. Just back up sgvault and sgmaster, restore them to a different SQL server or SQL server instance, then install the Fortress beta. You won't want to install the Fortress beta on the same machine as your production Vault server as it will upgrade Vault. Install Fortress on a different machine, which can be the same as where the SQL database is that you will be connecting to, and it will upgrade the copy of the database.

Ok, thanks for the info. We will keep it completely seperate, database and app. Will bring up in a VM environment...
