What does the difference marker "e" mean?

What does the difference marker "e" mean?

Sometimes, a line has as difference marker a lower case letter "e" in front (see attached screenshot). What does this "e" mean :?:

It means that there has been an edit on that line -- either interactive
typing on the line or applying a change from the menu. It is just a
little "activity" marker for the line. It doesn't mean that the line isn't the
same as when it was loaded, but just that you've done something on
that line.

Thanks! This is really interesting, since I have seen this marker several times, and I was not aware that I did any editing. I'll have an eye on this in the future...
