white space change not ignored in java?

Post by xerces8 » Wed Sep 15, 2021 4:50 am

I just tried DiffMerge_4_2_0_697_stable_x64 (the ZIPed version) to compare two .java files.
After turning on "Hide Unimportant Differences" it hid most white space and similar changes, but it kept highlighted simple changes like "a=b" to "a = b".

Why is that? Those are just white space changes that mean no difference to Java.

The "Hide Unimportant Differences" view within DiffMerge is also dependent on the setting for the Ruleset applied to the file. By default, Java source code files will have their own Ruleset defined in the options so you may want to look into this further.

There is some information in the Help documentation that you may find useful. If you invoke Help, Content, please scroll down to Hiding Unimportant Differences.

If this still appears to be an issue, please let us know.
