Saving large file is quite slow

I have an about 3MB xml file(not very big, right?) and use DiffMerge to compare the two versions. I opened a bit slowly but it is acceptable. After merged, the file was too slow to save even cause the DiffMerge "Not response".

Do you know the reason?

Is it only on that file, or does it happen on every file?

Try setting the "Detail Level" to "Lines Only" (instead of "Lines and Characters") in the Options dialog and see if that speeds things up.
