VS2015 Support

Post by dpbouchard » Tue Jul 28, 2015 9:10 pm

I'm so disappointed that VS2015 support doesn't seem to be working in the released version of SG. I just never expected that SG would be the source of any problems moving up to VS2015, but sadly it seems that while I seem able to checkout a file while starting to edit a checked-in file, it doesn't seem that SG is letting VS2015 know that fact, so VS2015 says the file can't be edited even though SG reports it is checked out. The only way I'm able to work around this issue is to close out of VS2015 and reopen the solution at which point, VS2015 sees the file is editable and it lets me make changes to the file.

Any idea when full VS2015 support will be available???

Thanks.

Which version of Vault are you using?

Are you using the Classic Client or the Enhanced Client?

Are you checking out in the Vault gui client or from inside Visual Studio?

Was Vault installed after VS 2015 or before?

I'm sorry I didn't provide all that info in the first place!

I am using version 8.0.1.30299

I am using Class Client

Checking out through VS2015 as I've always done in VS2013.

Vault was installed after VS2015.

Software directory was the same one used the previous day with VS2013 successfully.

Minor correction, Classic Client.

Also, I had just rebuilt my Win7x64 Saturday morning with a complete new install of all s/w, but this time no VS2013 instead I installed VS2015.

What type of project are you working with? For example is it a basic Windows forms, or Nuget, or database project?

What other plugins do you have?

In this case (i have many different types of projects), it was a C# project. I do use Resharper 9.1 and therefore I do think there is a Jetbrains.Annotations nuget package but I don't think I had installed this nuget package the first day I tried to check out a file within VS2015. I also have Infragistics and Red-Gate Dev/Sql tools installed.

Went offline with this discussion. If anyone else has Resharper, feel free to comment.

My team has been having a similar problem with VS2015, Vault 8.0.1.30299 and checking out files. We have Auto-Checkout enabled so if you begin editing a file is VS2015, the Vault plugin will check it out. Our issue usually is the files Vault Status is not in sync with VS2015 (in the file's tab in VS, the lock icon is still visible). The lock also is shown against the file int he Solution List.

If be close the file, check it out manually through VS and open the file, it is editable.

Previous versions of VS and Vault did not exhibit this issue.

Michael.

Is this specifically when using Resharper?

Are you using Nuget packages?

What happens if you go to File - Vault Source Control - Refresh Source Control Status?

Are you using the Vault Enhanced Client or the Vault Classic Client in VS? (Check that through VS Tools - Options - Source Control - plugin)
