How To Create A Shadow Copy?

Post by kmxsoft » Thu Sep 24, 2015 2:48 pm

I'm not sure whether 'shadow copy' is the correct term as I don't have Visual SourceSafe to refer to.

I recall that VSS had an option where when a file was checked in, it could be configured to automatically copy the latest revision to a shadow (?) location - so that the latest copy of any file was instantly accessible for use, without having to get latest versions from the repository.

Does Vault have an option to copy a checked in file like VSS does?

Yes. What we call our function is Shadow Folders. Those are configured in the Vault admin web page (http://<your Vault server>/vaultservice/admin). Expand repositories on the left side, then expand the specific repository in which you wish to set up shadowing. Click on Shadow Folders and you will see where you can enter the source and destination.
