Upgrading from Vault 7 to Vault 10

Post by sandercd » Mon Jan 14, 2019 6:16 pm

Hello,

We are looking at upgrading from Vault 7 to Vault 10. In the process we would like to move the Vault Server to Windows 2016 and also move the database to SQL Server 2016. I am wondering, if I can simply clone the SQL Server database from SQL Server 2012 to SQL Server 2016, and then install Vault 10 Pro on the new server and connect to the database?

Or, would it be better to upgrade the Vault 7 install to Vault 10, then move the database to SQL Server 2016, and re-install Vault and connect to the upgraded database?

Thanks for your help, Chris

Hi Chris,

You have a couple of different options available when it comes to moving your Vault database. I have copied below a knowledge base article that describes both options:

viewtopic.php?t=228

Once the Vault database has been moved, you can install the version 10.x Vault server and choose the option to keep and reuse the same database when prompted.

I have copied below a link to the Vault upgrade guide:

Here is a link to the KB moving Vault during an upgrade:

Please make sure to perform a backup of your Vault server before you start the process of any of these steps.

If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Thanks,

Tonya
