Label Promotion Grayed Out

I can't seem to use Lable Promotion. We are used to PVCS, where you can multi-select and then assign a label to multiple files' tip revs at one time.
But even trying to move up a 'prod' label, in the Label dialog, the 'Promotion' menu item is not available.

I can only delete the label and re-label.

Any quick solutions?

What version of Vault are you using? Is the Promotion menu item grayed out, or are you not seeing a Promotion menu item at all? Could you post a screen shot of what you are seeing in Show Labels?

I see the issue -- in Vault Label Promotion only works on a folder label, not a label specifically added to a file. If you label a folder, you can then change the version of files in the folder label, and add or delete items as part of label promotion.

Thanks Linda. Can you recomend any documentation of a more tutorial nature for Vault ? Since we are converting from PVCS, we don't quite see how to map our processes from it's model to Vault's, and something more than the help docs would be great.
