So, when you restart eclipse, do you get the login dialog and login or not?

No login dialog. Just the exception.

When you right-click anything in your project is there a Login command on the Team menu? Are any of the Vault commands there?

I figured it out through some trial an error and hunting through prefs files.

In the workspace/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.runtime/.settings/org.eclipse.ui.workbench.prefs file, there is a ENABLED_DECORATORS= key. One of the comma separated key-value pairs is:
com.sourcegear.vault.team.LabelDecorator\:true

On my machine that wasn't working, the "value" was false instead of true. I edited the prefs file and the exception went away. I believe this is also related to the comment I made about the null pointer exception in the decorator code (see an earlier reply in this thread). It appears that sometimes, the vault team plugin may be disabling its decorator which causes problems. I would have your developers track down the Null Pointer issue in the decorator code, that may solve it completely.

I did check out that NullPointerException...I could reproduce it (and I will investigate it) but that alone wasn't enough to make the plugin unusable for me...I could still perform Vault functions.

I just navigated to the Label Decorator preference page (General->Appearance->Label Decorations) and it appears this version of Eclipse is sometimes disabling our decorator (we never disable it) - maybe on every startup, even though we're turned on by default and restore defaults confirms that we should be. We can't take away the option to turn it off, that's built in to Eclipse, but obviously it's a bad idea to turn it off. We've only had one other Eclipse-based ide that turned off our decorator (and others) by default, I'm sorry it didn't occur to me that a flavor of regular Eclipse would be doing it.

I'm still at a loss as to why it can't load PropertyTester, but I've added some extra catches to keep it from disabling our decorator. It should only do that on CoreExceptions, but it looks like it changed at some point for certain decorator types to disable more aggressively.

I'd imagine this is still causing you some pain, so if you'd like to download a pre-release plugin to see if it helps, send me an email at shannon at sourcegear dot com and I can give you a link.

I had to remove Vault connection from my project to make things work (at all).

I am having the same issue. I don't even see the Label mentioned in the fix. I'm using Indigo 3.7 on Mac 64bit Cocoa. When I check out a project from vault, it fails. I am checking out a multi-module maven project I checked in from Windows. This all works fine on Windows 7 64 bit. This is really frustrating.

Plug-in com.sourcegear.vault.team was unable to load class com.sourcegear.vault.team.ui.ConnectionPropertyTester.

egarza: Are you able to create a new test project on your Mac and load that into Vault?

Would it be possible to load a Sun version of Java? That's the one we support.

FYI.

I never got around to test what a "previous user posted". I just happened to not use eclipse anymore. And therefore never considered my instance of the problem again.
